Martyrs Steakhouse - Taos

All I wanted for my 55th Birthday was a nice steak. Upon arriving to Taos, we asked several people where we could get a great streak. Everyone said Martyr's Steakhouse. From the minute we were seated I knew we were in trouble. Our waitress was completely clueless. She failed at every step of the process. She didn't know the menu at all. We ordered our salads which were OK, but soggy. We ordered the Ribeye the Salmon dinners. I specifically asked the ribeye to been cooked medium, pink inside. The dinners came and the ribeye was less than rare so I sent it back. My wife had the salmon which was supposed to be served with sauteed spinach, but it was just raw spinach thrown on the plate. The side dishes lacked flavor and were just dumped on the plate. We even had to ask for our bread. My wife asked about the spinach and the response from the waitress was that she served that dish to other people and their spinach was the same way, so we must be wrong. My wife asked for a manager and she gave us a discount on our meal because she said the regular chef wasn't there and the cook covering should know better. We loved Taos, but now we know better to never go to this restaurant.

There is an understated attentiveness that combined to make this an enjoyable meal in an attractive setting. The food was fine, not ourstanding. We would certainly return when we are in town again.

Ribeye steak is reasonably priced but not the quality we were expecting for that price. Calamari was also average and would not order it again.

Probably the best restaurant on Taos. From Hostess, to waitress to bartender, they were all very polite and professional. The service was excellent, food outstanding. We tried the Bison options, which were both delicious.

Wonderful time, as always, at Martyr's. We always bring our visitors here and this time we brought a foodie who placed his experience in the top three of his life! The service was superb. The ambiance is always a pleasure to experience. We will be back again. And again. And again.
