We likely wouldn't have found it without the HappyCow listing, as Tam Ky is not an easy town to navigate. The owner, who served us, was cheerful and enjoyed our attempts to speak Vietnamese. We selected a variety of dishes from the counter including Vegan Chicken rice, spring rolls, vegan beef 'la lot' (beef wrapped in lime leaf), rice noodles with vegetables and tofu, okra, and morning glory. We also had a generous serving of rice and soup. The food was delicious, especially the vegan chicken rice and the vegan beef 'la lot'. One of our friends, a vegetarian from Australia who usually doesn't like mock meat, changed his mind after trying it here. The total cost was around 150,000 for all the food, which was a great deal split between five people. While I wouldn't recommend going to Tam Ky just for this restaurant, it's worth visiting along with the Mural Village and nearby Cham ruins. (Note: not the My Son ruins, but two Cham towers).
I thought this restaurant would be really good since it took me a while to find it. The food is typical and cheap vegan fare, with the chay costing 20k. It's a bit more expensive than other places, but the cleanliness makes up for it. The staff speaks basic English and is friendly. The restaurant is located next to Chùa hòa temple, to the left of the temple building. The Google Maps location is called quán chay h legitimized thi, at 324 Phan Châu Trinh. The front of the restaurant is shared with a motorcycle repair shop, but the dining area is further back. There doesn't appear to be a menu. (Review last updated on 2020-09-16)
Some friends and I had lunch at this restaurant after visiting the nearby Wandorf. We probably would not have found it without the HappyCow list, as Tam Ky can be difficult to navigate. The owner/lady serving us was very cheerful and laughed at our attempts to speak Vietnamese. We chose a variety of dishes from the counter: vegan chicken rice, spring rolls, vegan "bark la lot" (mock meat in betel leaf), rice noodles with vegetables and tofu, okra, and morning glory. We also had a large bowl of rice and soup. The food was delicious, especially the vegan chicken rice and the vegan "bark la lot." One of our group members, a vegetarian Australian, who usually did not like mock meats, changed his mind after trying them here. I believe the total cost for all the food was around 150,000 VND, which was a great value for the amount we received. I highly recommend visiting this restaurant in Tam Ky, and pairing it with a trip to the mural village and nearby Cham towers. (Note: the Cham towers are not my son, but rather historical ruins.) I had difficulty finding this restaurant for a while and thought it had closed down. The food is typical inexpensive vegetarian fare, with a plate of rice costing 20,000 VND. While it is slightly more expensive than other places, the cleanliness of this restaurant sets it apart (I didn't find any bugs in my greens, for example). One staff member speaks basic English and everyone is friendly. To locate the restaurant, first find Chùa Hòa An temple, which is easy to spot from the road. The restaurant is located 2 buildings to the left of the temple. You can find it on Google Maps under the name Quán Chay Hương Thiền at 324 Phan Châu Trinh. The front of the shop is shared with a motorbike repair shop, but you can see the tables and food towards the back. As far as I know, there is no menu available.
