Bidrage med feedbackTrue to its name, this is definitely the one who makes provision. Providore offers traditional home cooked meals transporting you back to that good old family dining rituals. The menu consists of old favorites we've already had at some points in our lives. Literally comfort food in a fine dining set up. The place has a homey feel to it, in a more upscale way. The space is modest with additional seats al fresco. Upon entering you will be enticed by the freshly baked bread and pastries displayed by the counter. On the opposite side are shelves with various food items you can purchase. Once seated, we ordered the following: Chef's salad, Bbq wings, Crab and Avocado toastie, Crispy seafood mayo roll, Chicken a la Kiev, Macaroni Pimiento 4 cheese gratin, Cast iron steak and chili cheese fries; and for the drinks: calamansi lychee cooler, banana cream pie and salted caramel milkshakes. The food presentation was amazing. Definitely instagram worthy with perfect flat lays goals achieved. Need I say more? When it came to the taste, it was good borderline great. We were expecting it to have that oomph factor. It didn't have that special flavor that would put it above the rest who serve exactly the same dishes. Nonetheless, we devoured our food with gusto. The milkshakes were sweet and creamy enough to satisfy our fancy but it was a bit on the watery side not the thick kind that we would have preferred. Also it was served in their small glass and not those tall ones we're used to. Although they did gave us the extra milkshake that didn't fit in the glass. Also they served the drinks with 2 straws in it. For sharing maybe or aesthetic purposes, we will never know. But it looked great though. What stood out for us with the food was the bbq wings complimented with the tangy blue cheese and the chef's salad which had generous servings of fresh, lively crunchy greens. We didn't get the chance to sample their pastries since we had to go someplace else. But that gives us a reason to come back for more. Ambiance/Interior 4 Food presentation 4 Food taste 2.5 Staff 3

Tried Providore's crispy seafood roll--it was good, but had too much bread for the filling, and the brioche was dry. But that was okay. What really bothered me were their STRAWS. Why do I need two straws for my drink?? I thought maybe it's because I had the "fancy" half lemonade/half iced tea drink...but I checked other tables, everyone had two straws!! Apparently, it's for "branding" purposes--with blue and red straws representing their brand colors. (Who knew??) I'm a marketing person myself, but I find this ridiculous, impractical, and just insensitive to environmental issues. Other cities have banned the use of plastic straws, forcing us to use paper straws or drink slurpees without straws. But here, let's double our use of straws! The manager said they've raised this concern to management but to no avail.
My friends and I met for lunch at Providore. Everything we had were superb. From the appetizers (Pecorino Fries, Caesar Salad, Potato Chips), main dish (Salpicao Steak, Salmon Sinigang, Lechon Cracklins) and desserts (Frozen Custard, Banana Split and Warm Brownie Skillet). Was just surprised when the salpicao was served - I didn't expect that it will look and taste like bistek. But nevertheless, it was really good. Servings are good for sharing. I loved the food and I'll definitely go back there again.
Restaurants like Providore do not fail to impress, to excite at first glance (as you see it for the first time) only to incite violence among (massively) disappointed diners when they enter, order and finally taste the Instagram-worthy masterpieces (masterpiece is relative). How many, I ask you dear readers, restaurants have duped you of your hard-earned moolah? 10? 20? From my own experience, more. Let's put it in conservative terms: more than the good and the very good ones. But Providore is a league of its own. Its impressive. Exciting. And yes, it incites something. Not violence but eagerness to come back and to try the others in the menu. Tita N ordered the Chicken Waldorf. A salad of avocado, bacon cranberries, walnuts, bleu cheese with buttermilk ranch dressing (which we shared). And I had Crispy Seafood Mayo Roll of buttered brioche, dill, romaine lettuce with remoulade sauce. I enjoyed every bite with my tall glass of Providore Hazelnut Cold Brew. Good? No. Very good.
