Bidrage med feedbackVisited Kobe Jones for my birthday and ordered the Surf and Turf for 2.- Took 20 minutes for our bottle of wine to be given to us.- We were not allowed to keep the drinks menu even though we requested this multiple times.- We were not given all the food as part of the Surf and Turf - Missing Rice and also soup.- Service was ordinary to say the least - had to request cutlery twice before it arrived.- Chef was hardly interactive For a $300 bill it would have been nice if the service matched the amount of money that was paid. Would not recommend visiting this place.
I don't think we would have dined here if we didn't purchase a discount voucher in advance. The voucher was for a degustation menu of 10 courses. I could not enjoy this as I have coeliac disease. I was offered a credit towards their gluten free options which was kind. Service was quite slow initially with my entree being served half an hour before my companions were offered their first bite. Then I had a wait before my second course came out. I ended up eating my friends rice as I was starving. The food was pleasant but nothing wow. Even with the gas heaters on we were cold.....we were sitting on the verandah section of the restaurant. The view were nice looking out over a section of the Darling Harbour precinct. The evening was certainly pleasant enough and something different to experience .
My husband and I visited Kobe Jones as we purchased the Groupon 11-course winter degustation menu. The service was a bit slow to start of with, but nice enough overall. The food itself was actually quite nice and very well presented. Unfortunately what lets the restaurant down is the lack of atmosphere and also the fact that if you are there on a Groupon voucher the value you get is extremely disappointing. The restaurant management is trying to use Groupon to overcharge customers and they have absolutely no interest in return business. This is a big mistake. In fact the winter degustation menu is nowhere to be found online and when we ordered a set menu for 2 we were told that "we got nice service
We went as a group of 4 on a Sunday night under a 50% discount on the food bill. 20 mins into the meal we were informed that there was a 15% surcharge for Sunday's. Australia has recently abandoned weekend wage loading so this was inexcusable. 3 of us had the Oishii fixed menu which at 50% of the $88 price was good value and pleasant. The spare ribs on a mainly seafood menu seemed strange and no one felt much like eating it by that stage in the night. The 4th in the group chose from the menu and was charged $42 for the Karaage Chicken when one would expect to pay around $20 elsewhere. It was pleasant but can be found in a hundred Japanese restaurants for less than half the price. Drinks are eyewateringly expensive at $12 for a beer. Service was appalling for a restaurant that seems to place itself in an upmarket category. We gave up trying to get advice on the menu with simple questions about the size of dishes. We got the impression that the signature dishes at the start of the menu might be smallish dishes perhaps of entree size but we gave up trying to understand for the person n orders Ng from m the a la carte. We had one waitress who disappeared for a while and was replaced by a waitress who got the dessert order wrong. Our original waitress was pleasant but did not have the experience or language to assist us. The second waitress got the order wrong. A third waiter was cold and disinterested. The restaurant is in a nice location but with plastic sheeting on the exterior wall and no heating around us it was cold in a mid winter night. There are some heaters around but they were not on. It was the consensus of the group that the food was nice but the exorbitant prices and amateurish service resulted in a feeling of disappointment for the group.
Had a lovely lunch with delicious food. The banquet was huge and so much food for three people. The staff were accommodating swapping out one of the dishes on the banquet menu. Unfortunately the weather was bad and there was a freezing wind coming under the plastic "walls" and we were left uncomfortably cold despite the wall heaters. Shame as we were delighted to be using a voucher which made the lunch affordable.
