Bidrage med feedbackGreat pan fried haddock if that's what you're looking for. Good portions and friendly service.
I have eaten here a couple of times YEARS ago, with little to no memory of it, but came back on an overcast Saturday in August for a late lunch with my parents. The place was about half full when we entered, and much darker than I remember (which I actually like). Simple tavern/family restaurant atmosphere with wooden tables, some VLTs, carpeting, a couple small TVs, etc. with a fake dalmatian standing at the entranceway near the daily specials sign. Friendly service. I tried the Fisherman's platter (16.99 one pc battered haddock, a full serving of clams, four scallps, coleslaw lemon). It was ok. Lots of homemade fries, but they had a slightly strange flavor to me. The fish was decent, the clams were plentiful but tiny, the scallops ok. My mother tried the Chicken Parm sandwich (12.99 breaded chicken breast dipped in wing sauce with lettuce and tomato on a kaiser roll according to the online menu). In person I don't remember seeing lettuce or tomato on it, and it came on a sesame seed hamburger bun when I look at the photo I took. She really enjoyed the sandwich itself and said it would be enough for lunch on its own, as she was barely about to touch her fries. My father had the steak special (14.99 8oz T-bone) and said it was cooked well the way he wanted, but he found it a poor cut of meat with lots of fat, and very thin. He can normally eat a fair amount and said there were too many fries too. But overall, I will still come back here because I hear other things on the menu are good that I'd like to try. Came back here for breakfast over the holidays around 10am and enjoyed. The place wasn't too busy, service was simple and straightforward, the food basic but good. I had the bacon, eggs, toast home fries, and it was as standard as can be, with nothing overly memorable but no complaints.
Can you give no stars? We visited while in town Party of 5 and were seated quickly so it wasn't too busy. Waited 45 minutes for our food. Issues with 3 if the 5 orders. I ordered the 8oz T-bone special. It is a regular item on the menu for $1 off so I figures I was safe. I asked for it to be medium. The steak that arrived was far less than 8oz. It was tasteless. For the first time in 20 years I put steak sauce on a steak. I had asked for their peppercorn sauce but the waitress was honest and told me it wasn't worth the $2 extra as it is made from powder. The steak was paper thin. Asking for medium I received everything from very well to blue. The blue portion was at least an inch out from the bone. Not sure how a steak that thin can be that undercooked in some and overcooked in others. The waitress offered another steak but this one was so far off of okay I didn't want to chance it. Very disappointed and cannot see me going back on future trips.
Hot turkey and steak are my favs although I'm sure there are others friendly staff and generous portions. Apple blossom desert is amazing!
Server wouldn't get off her phone long enough to notice that our meal was ready. We didn't get what we ordered. Never going back
