Bidrage med feedbackThe perfect stop for lunch along the eastern shore of NS. The seafood chowder and coconut cream pie were outstanding. Lisa was the perfect hostess as well as being an excellent chef. Loved the recycling of a previous school.
Spent a wonderful afternoon in this restaurant. Saw a sign from the road and my fiancé decided to turn around to get one more taste of Atlantic seafood chowder. Pulled up to the building and the parking lot was full so we assumed the restaurant was open. Once we got to the doors, the owner told us she was not actually open but that we were welcome to come in since she already had a few customers. She was absolutely lovely. Poor thing was running off her feet to ensure everyone's satisfaction. It's very plain inside the eating area but the experience was magical. We chatted with every person in the restaurant. As introverted people, the conversations in and of themselves were special. We ate the BEST homemade fishcakes, delicious biscuits and some good seafood chowder. We also got a piece of homemade coconut cream pie, IT WAS MASSIVE. When we left the owner filled our coffees back up, for the road. We felt like we had a true Nova Scotian experience. Great time, next time we're in Nova Scotia we'd make the trip back.
Saw the sandwich board sign and my mom remembered this place. Intrepid going into the old school but the restaurant was bright, the owner/chef was friendly and the food was fantastic. Huge portions of fish cakes, maple baked beans, chowder w lg biscuit, and lobster seafood lasagna. Nice big coffee cups and a tower of strawberry shortcake.
We stopped here today for a late lunch. Intrigued by the write-up in a local travel guide, we decided to give it a shot. If you are looking for a fine dining experience, this is not it. The location is in a decommisioned school, which has been turned into this restaurant and a craft shop. The food was all homemade and delicious--we had chowder (huge bowls and a creamy thin broth, not the thick stuff), one of the best biscuits I've ever eaten (I'm from the Southern U.S., so I know good biscuits!), pizza and garlic fingers. Total cost, including big glasses of juice for two of our party of 4 was $47, which was wonderful, given how much food we had. Lisa was wonderful--attentive, made us feel at home, and found some little toys for my boys to take home. We wouldn't hesitate to do here again.
This restaurant is a great hidden gem! Located about 8 minutes east of Musquodoboit Harbour, towards Clam Harbour, it is definitely worth the drive, especially if you have just come from surfing.
