Bidrage med feedbackAbsolutely love the stir fried noodle (mie goreng) and nasi lemak. They were delicious!<br/ <br/ Nice ambience that’s for sure! Plenty of seating with an extra space on the upper floor, perfect for a small party.<br/ <br/ Great service and highly recommended.
I was working in the Whalley district. My coworkers told me that this restaurant had great food. We went there together for lunch. We ordered satay chicken and beef, veggies and meat spring rolls, mee goreng with chicken and nasi goreng with shrimps. The food tasted great. We were very surprised to find such a good Indonesian/Malaysian restaurant in Surrey! One of our clients that we worked with told me that he loved the ginger tea here and he couldn’t find it anywhere else. He couldn’t even make it at home. I should try their ginger tea next time. <br/ <br/ There is free street parking right in front of the restaurant. That is awesome! <br/ <br/ The customer service was great! The restaurant might not be too busy today that the server or owner of the restaurant had more time to explain to us about the dishes of food. We really appreciate it! <br/ <br/ Pricing is reasonable and the portion is big. We had leftover that we could pack home! If you live in this neighbourhood or come to this neighbourhood for any reasons, come and try this restaurant.
Manis is a pan-Asian restaurant (with a focus on Malaysian cuisine) located in a newer mixed-use building on Whalley Blvd near 108th. The restaurant has a comfortable and stylish decor, and during our visit on a Saturday afternoon, it was surprisingly quiet (likely due to the Vaisakhi celebration happening in Surrey). We ordered 3 dishes and ended up with leftovers for dinner, all for around $40 including tax and tips. We requested the Mee Goreng to be non-spicy as my partner's granddaughter doesn't enjoy spicy food yet. Despite being mild, the dish was still flavorful with a generous amount of chicken. The Curried Chicken with Roti Parantha had a nice kick to it, with the roti being light and not greasy. The curry was rich with tender chicken and potatoes, and we believe it was one of their lunch specials. The Laksa was also a standout dish for us, with a good amount of chicken, shrimp, and tofu in a delicious coconut curry broth. While not as rich as other versions we've tried, we would still rate it as excellent. Our server was very friendly and gracious, even going the extra mile to pack up our leftovers for us. It's the little touches like this that make a difference in customer service.
I had been passing by this small restaurant for months, curious about what it was like. After reading several positive reviews on Zomato calling it Whalley's hidden gem, we finally decided to try it out. And I must say, I agree with the other reviewers - this place is fantastic! We tried the mee goreng, yellow chicken curry, chicken satay, nasi goreng, and two orders of roti canai (with both sauces). Each dish was so delicious that I can't even pick a favorite. Usually, I can easily say which dish I liked the most after a meal, but with Manis, I was torn between each bite. If you typically go for Chinese or Thai food in this area, I highly recommend giving Manis a try - you won't be disappointed!
I have discovered a hidden gem at this restaurant! I can't believe I didn't try it sooner, despite living in the area for 2 years. The satay and yellow curry were both delicious and highly recommended.
