Bidrage med feedbackJollof rice and honey chicken is delicious Owners of this restaurant are very friendly, the gentleman recommended their fried plantains. This is the first time we tried plantains and they are absolutely amazing. Will definitely come back again.
Finally got to try this place!!! And it did not disappoint, it is the best African restaurant I've ever tried. I ordered the beef stew with jollof rice and added the plantains. I loved how they had different flavors to balance the heat of the beef stew and jollof rice. The plantains were sweet and nutty and the creamy coleslaw really helped with the heat. I will come back next time to try their other dishes.
The flavors and food at this restaurant are absolutely delicious! This was my first visit and I will definitely be coming back. I had originally planned to try the fufu, but it requires a 30-minute preparation time, so I ended up getting the rice, beans, and chicken instead, which was so tasty! Next time, I'll be sure to call ahead so I can try more dishes. The warm and generous hospitality of the staff immediately made me feel welcome. I ended up dining here based on some recommendations and was told it's the most authentic African cuisine in town, which was confirmed by the customers inside. Yum!
This was my first time trying West African cuisine and I was absolutely amazed. The flavors took me on a culinary journey all the way from Surrey to Nigeria. The chicken was incredibly tender and packed with delicious, smoky jerk seasoning with a hint of sweetness. The Jollof rice was the best I've ever had, topped with a thick, gravy-like hot sauce that added a perfect finishing touch.
Appearances can be deceiving. This charmingly delicious restaurant does not look like much from the outside… or the inside for that matter. But if you can brave a seedy part of town (park your car across the street at the grocery store) you will be treated to the best West African food you will ever eat in this province. I give my daughter Ava full credit for finding this place after being inspired watching fufu videos on Tik Tok. The fried plantains are nicely caramelized with a sweet but substantive flavour. They did not hold back the spice on the baked tilapia and I appreciated their daring old school cooking. The jerk-honey chicken adds a nice flavour profile to the traditional Jamaican style. And of course, the fufu with egushi, spinach and goat was a big hit. I recommend you attend in person your first time rather than doing a delivery service. While the restaurant is only take out, the staff are warm, friendly and give helpful advice. And, you might find something else to buy like their seafood hot sauce. Taste of Africa delivers on its name and may be the best alternative to going to Africa.
