Bidrage med feedbackFantastic food and re allt great service! The seafood was amazing. Frábær matur og virkilega góð þjónusta. Redduðu matvöndu barni með brosi á vör og pössuðu vel upp á okkur allan tímann. Bláskelin var guðdómleg !
[september 2021] I highly recommend booking a table in advance, as the restaurant was very busy! the garlic bread with butter and smoked salt that they serve as an appetizer was very delicious, and that was the first time that I had to taste the famous Icelandic salt! for which I had the grilled Icelandic lamb that was incredibly delicious. they cooked the lamb in a wise way that makes it easier for me to get rid of the typical lamb smell and taste. would definitely come back, should I revisit stykkishólmur in the future!
Amazing! I can be a hard person to please when it comes to restaurants, but that was my favorite meal after a week on the island. the fish I got was one of the best prepared my life while he was fried, he still tasted so lightly and melted in my mouth (I like mostly fried fish we went on a weekday afternoon and sat immediately. service was wonderful, and the atmosphere was so cozy and beautiful.
Wow, what an amazing experience. We came a few minutes early to enjoy a glass of wine prior to our dinner. The wonderful owner, who also bartends, seats patrons, buses tables and helps serve dishes, was a dynamo, making sure we, as well as everyone else, was taken care of. The food was amazing and reasonably priced (for Iceland), surprising since it was only 1 of 3 places available for dinner this time of year. Such a really delicious and enjoyable meal, we will be sure to return when we get a chance to again visit Iceland!
When we arrived in Stykkisholmur late in the evening, the hostess at our guest house was concerned, because we had not made dinner arrangements. She quickly recommended two restaurants, asked us which one we preferred and then proceeded to make a reservation on our behalf. Left to our own devices, we would have probably eaten fast food or pub grub, but the restaurant was just across the street, so we decided to give it a shot. When we arrived, we had to go to the bar on the lower level, and wait for a time to be seated. The dining room was on the upper floor of what appeared to be a converted two-story house. The atmosphere was casual, yet cautiously elegant. The prices on the menu were higher than we had anticipated. But, it was our anniversary, so we said, What the heck? Live a little. So glad we did. We started with the Icelandic salad and fish soup. The salad had fruits and nuts in it, along with fresher greens than I had yet had in Iceland. The fish soup was a touch salty, but flavorful, with mussels, shrimp, and more bites of seafood in it. For our mains, I tried the pan-fried cod in a miso glaze, and my wife had the scallops. Both were excellent, with subtle flavors that didn 't take away from the freshness of the seafood. For dessert, we had a surprisingly good tiramisu. The service was kind and attentive, while also being unobtrusive. Overall, this was a finer quality of dining than I had anticipated finding in this sleepy little town. We were delighted to spend our anniversary dinner here, despite the cost. We were not disappointed.
