Bidrage med feedbackHubby I stopped here first when in the city for the wedding party of a friend back in April, so when we were invited back down for a weekend with friends our first thought was JA!!! We can get more of these amazing hot dogs. We were so impressed by not only how delicious the hot dogs were every time, but the service is better than many upper end restaurants we were. Although all the hot dogs we have tried have been very good, the City Slicker is by far our favorite, the spicy NY Red onion sauce is for dying. I believe that the restaurant has changed hands since our first visit, but this is the only difference, and I prefer the traditional basic beef style Chili offered on our second visit of pulled beef Chili on the rootin Tootin dog, the pulled beef was not so sweet and a little bitter in my opinion. They also had a Chili Cheeseburger on the menu on our second visit, with which hubby tried and fell in love. While the hot dogs are the stars of the show, trust me when I tell you that you place for the Smashed potatoes crushed baby red potatoes fried on the grid and served with a diving sauce, I have tried the honey mustard and the garlic aoli and the garlic is my very favorite. During our recent visit we also tried the baked beans, but were somewhat disappointed about how dry they were, but maybe it was the last piece. One of the best things except farm to table is that the hot dogs are served on roasted, New England style rolls I just wish I could find them locally to buy for home. There is a small dining room with an original jukebox no CDs in this Oldie but Goodie, which plays 45's and the walls are decorated with album covers from bygone era and even a map so that visitors can make a pen where they are seen from We Pins from Japan and other distant countries. We are looking forward to our next visit to the area and Rootin' Tootin' Hot Dogs will be our first station.
Hot Dogs menu has a variety of choices and roasted fried rolls, pages made like home Mac n cheese, FRIED BABY RED potatoes that are incredible. Dive sauce are also at home made and highly recommended. Juke Box plays 3 songs for a quarter, which is an explosion from the 50s. Great place and great customer service!
Wow! That's all I have to say! If you are in the area (or even if you are not this place is a great escape from the average food. Low prices, local hot dogs, homemade cheese sauce (Crazy good!, homemade ice sandwiches, and everything was cooked /after / we ordered. Beyond delicious! The atmosphere is fantastic: well maintained jukebox, classic diner decor and a small (but cozy dining area. If I'm back in town, I'll come back 100%! Can't wait for my next meal!
While I went back from NY to Chicago, I saw rootin 'Tootin' while I came back to I-80. I held on the shoulder of the entrance ramp, googled rootin ' Tootin ' saw excellent reviews... I saw how I can return to the main road from the highway ramp that asked myself whether the back cover, hanging up a completely illegal U-turn on the ramp is worth a stinking 'hot dog? Well, I found out.... The answer is yes, it was worth it!!! It is hard to find a hot dog joint that Grills Hot Dogs, not to mention with added bacon on a really well roasted bunny, a page of deep fried tater chunks with more bacon cheese, and some really good Cole Slav... They also have a world map on the wall for customers to show a colored pencil where they live. There is a pen on about 80% of the world map, from Russia, Africa, Asia, Alaska... A certain place to stop Chow down!! Tom.
Perfect place to find, after long hike. The most perfectly made hot dog I have ever experienced. Staff super friendly, and good specials selection. They use local farms!
