Bidrage med feedbackAbsolutely appalling place to eat. Landlord rude and talks to staff like dirt. The place is filthy and dated. Food is poor quality, I dread to think what state the kitchen is in.
Great fish and chip lunch with elderly relatives, excellent value for enormous piece of freshly cooked and perfectly battered cod for £12. Nice mix of specials on menu. Great service and lovely atmosphere. Plenty of parking and accessible to the less mobile. Lovely garden with a great kids area and even a pétanque pitch overlooked by an idyllic postcard village church.
Well where do I begin, we were in a happy mood as we went out for a meal to celebrate our sons birthday, we also had our dog with us, on approaching the Woolpack after parking we noticed a large garden to the rear with a few picnic tables so thought it ideal to eat outside with our dog, I went inside and asked if we could have our food outdoors as weather was nice, there was a shaking of the head from who I assume was the landlord, on reflection now we should have left there and then to find a welcoming pub elsewhere. Went inside to the so called sports bar, large billiard table in centre, 2 tables at the back with customers drinking vaping, we sat perched on 3 tiny stools an even smaller table right by main door. We were given the menu, chose what to have (not much choice), I then decided to take my dog into the garden for a walk, grass very overgrown with dog faeces in it, Woolpack name propped against a wall, should have realised then what this meant. When I got back my husband son had been moved to another (very sticky) table, a bit larger so all three plates would fit. Our food arrived mine was ok, however, my husbands wasnt very nice at all, he had the all day breakfast which appeared to have been around all day, as was cold, fried eggs were hard. Wish on reflection I’d read the other comments from other unfortunate people.
We came here for refreshments after a funeral. Graham made things super easy for us and couldn’t have been more helpful. We had a room to ourselves (around 18 of us) with plenty of food, tea coffee. We didn’t go out in the garden, but it looked great! There wasn’t a disabled loo, but the loo was ground floor and not up/down any steps. They had a portable ramp so a wheelchair could enter the pub and once in, it was easy to get around. Good selection of beers and drinks and quick friendly service- they made a difficult time as easy as possible for us and I’m really grateful. It seemed a lovely pub.
Having been told this place does lovely Sunday lunches we thought we would give it a go. Was quite busy. Only one girl doing all the work out front of house. The landlord was doing drinks. We were sat waiting a while for our order to be taken. We nearly left aa the place wasn't very clean. Dusty, dirty carpets and a melt fusty. People were eating away so we thought the food must be nice!!. We ordered beef dinner. Not given much at all. We only waited 5 minutes for the food to arrive. We were sat near the kitchen door but we couldn't smell any food cooking. We had not been freshly cooked food but Aldi ready meals!!!. Even the sweets were Aldi. Very run down. Avoid at all cost.
