Bidrage med feedbackA beautiful old dog friendly country pub complete with low beams and open fires. Although it is August it was a cool day and a fire was lit while we were there. Set in the lovely Suffolk countryside. We were made welcome on our arrival and shown our table. A good menu with vegetarian option. For starters my daughter and mysel had pea, bean and herb soup wit croutons and blue cheese, Unusual but very nice. my husband had Duck spring rolls. My husband and myself ordered the double roast (pok and beef) for the main course and our daughter had the fish pie. Served with roast potatoes, Yorkshire pudding and a selection of vegetables. Both meats were cooked to perfection the beef was medium rare and the pork cooked just right, both were very tender. Half the plate was meat lovely thick slices, in fact so much that we asked if we could take what we couldn't eat home with us, it was packed up in a takeaway box for us. The fish pie was full of chunks of fish in a lovely thick sauce with a puff pastry top. We were so full that we couldn't eat a dessert of what looked like a delicious menu. We would definitely recommend the Queens Haead and will be going back. Well done team.
We enjoyed a lovely meal at the Queens Head. The pub had a lovely atmosphere and the staff were really friendly. The steak was lovely!
As others have said, this really is the perfect English village pub. Great beer selection, cosy beamed interior and delightful garden with superb views. Just as importantly, the management and staff are all very friendly. And did I mention the beer?
This English pub is simply perfect. The location is amazing, the clientele is great, and the landlords are superb. We stayed in the fantastic room above the pub (refer to Perfect Stay below...just as good as they said two years later) and enjoyed a delightful dinner with friends. As expected of a pub, the food is traditional pub fare (note reviewer below). The cozy atmosphere with an old school log fire was truly inviting. It quickly became my local friends' favorite pub.
This pub has been my favorite local spot for years, even though it is over 30 minutes away from my home. We went there for dinner on April 6th to celebrate my wife's 60th birthday. We both ordered the battered haddock, which was a good size, but we noticed some excess oil in the batter when we cut into it. This was a bit disappointing, as the food has been excellent in the past. Our friends enjoyed their beef en croute and burger, saying they were delicious. The menu seemed shorter than we remembered, but this is not always a problem. I remember there used to be an amazing fish pie on the menu, and I would love to see it available again.
