Taste Bistro - St. Catharines

What a findLocated in the heart of downtown StCatharines, the menu offers taste or full size portions.

I should have left when they sat us on their patio and I looked around to find garbage and cigarette butts littering the space!The food matched the atmosphere. Terrible! The calamari was chewy, the crab cake was a bread crumb cake. I have never had a worse dining experience!! Gratefully, it has closed down!!!

Hubby and I have been here several times, once on our own and the rest of our visits with other couples. We've been impressed each time. There are always interesting specials to complement the regular menu, which in itself is a delight. We enjoy the tasting sized portions which allow us to sample a variety of items. There are vegetarian and vegan items on the menu as well as dishes to make meat or fish lovers happy. Everything is fresh, tasty and plated beautifully. Portion sizes are excellent. And the desserts are delicious.

We loved the tasting size portions, which allowed us to try more menu items. Everything that the three of us had was amazing. I'd highly recommend this restaurant!

Downtown FILLED with people for hockey at Meridan, us going to PAC for comedian strippers show. Restaurants booked weeks ahead for hockey game..we walked into Taste Bistro because they had seating....were we lucky to find this place, quaint, cozy, nice bar, excellent staff and owner,,his father was the Chef...soooooo good was our choices. Soup to die for..homemade..crabcakes, and a linguine in a mild pesto sauce, with a red sauce on bottom, with sliced grilled chicken breast. Excellent presentation plating. My friend got her soup first, I tasted it and said how good it was to server. Because she was eating, she brought me a small tasting bowl, complimentary! They have 2 serving sizes of menu items. Would we recommend Taste...YES YES YESA real gem, Sabian at bar (owner?) who was really great, and Mercey, our server, good and attentive, so kind to not let me watch my friend eat but give me something too...friend ordered 2 starters, I had linguini, thus hers was first. 5 stars for atmosphere, food / presentation and service.
