Bidrage med feedbackThis place is a gem! Great staff and location! You can book a trolley tour right next door! Although it’s only a 10 min walk to the Fountain of Youth and the Our Lady of La Leche shrine. Walk directly across the street and through the historic neighborhoods down to Water St. The Castillo de San Marcus should not be missed! Then walk back across the street to the St George Pedestrian Mall for all the food and goodies you want. Easy walk back to the hotel? There’s a little deck out back overlooking the marsh and train tracks… beautiful spot to watch the sunset ?Regarding the train tracks… we stayed in the back and it’s definitely quieter than the street side. We had 4trains each night and they don’t blow whistle and are not loud! Barely heard them over the fan… road noise keeps us up more, so the folks who left bad train reviews are just very high maintenance individuals ?One thing we didn’t see reviewed was the amazing Columbian restaurant on site! The De Leon Latina Cocina is open for lunch and dinner each day and breakfast on the weekend! The columbian mountain breakfast is wonderful and the delicious Fresca fruit drinks (mango, passion fruit, guava etc) can be made with water or milk. Dinner has arepas, empanadas as well as fried trout and a mixed grill plate that is filled with steak, chorizo, chicarones, beans, rice and avocado ? unbelievable and all authentic! So skip the chicken joint next door and enjoy some amazing columbian food and hospitality right here!Truly an authentic gem hidden amongst a very touron town! Thanks Ponce St Augustine Hotel for a wonderful experience!Rooms: Clean, comfortable with big tvs and cozy beds!Nearby activities: Historic St Augustine! Definitely see the Castillo and plan to linger and explore for at least an hour. Then cross the street and explore the pedestrian mall!Safety: Safe, clean, well lit property.Walkability: A 10-15 min walk walk to the historic attractions. Make sure to get off the main drag and wander over through the historic neighborhoods or book a trolley ride next door at the visitor center. You can also get tickets to all the attractions there.Food drinks: The Latin Cocina is wonderful! We stayed 2 days and ate there 3 times plus got extra empanadas to take on the road with us!
Ate at the restaurant. Very good home made hot sauce served with meal.. and plantains cooked perfect. Service was
This is a Motel, not a Hotel. It is adjacent to the railroad tracks and trains go by 4 times between dinner and breakfast. Rooms and service were adequate but the trains don't allow for adequate sleep and there has been no attempt at soundproofing the rooms.
I was very satisfied with this hotel, especially considering the price. According to the person at the welcome center, it was updated a few years ago. I didn't use the pool, but it appeared clean. I didn't use the bar or restaurant either, but the availability is nice. We bought canned drinks from the front desk one night. The room itself was more than adequate. Two queen beds, one chair, a desk and chair, tv, mini fridge, ironing board/iron, microwave, blow dryer and coffee pot were all included. The lady that I spoke to was very friendly. We were on the back of the hotel, which backs up to the river. It was pretty and there were usually some birds hanging out. I think you can catch the trolley next door and there is food within walking distance. It isn't far to historic St. Augustine but Ponce de Leon Blvd. is busy to cross on foot. If you take a right and go a few miles down, you come to many restaurants and stores. The only real con for some that I saw was a train track. This wasn't a big deal for us at all. In fact, my kid enjoyed watching it. I mention it only because it may be a problem for some. The train track runs beside the river right behind the parking lot of the building. We could hear it inside, but it didn't wake us up at night.
Watch out for these guys. We got a special on TravelEuro For $64 for the night plus fees and taxes, making it $86 in advance which we paid.. And the stupid Clerk charged us more because she said oh they only paid us $71... Hello? Hotels that use these booking sites online are advertising for them. In fact today several are offering special prices as well. You don't charge the customer EXTRA because the customer got a special price! What's the point of booking online and getting a special price if they rip you off at the desk.Otherwise the rooms were clean, but no breakfast offered during the week.
