Ray's Cafe - Spring Lake

We dined at Rays last evening they did not miss a beat. My wife had the Hawain Pinapple chicken, while I went with the Sautaued Scallaps. Everything was cooked fresh perfectly done. The mashed potatoes were one the best I've ever had, melt on your mouth flavorful. We sat outside, perfect summer evening, lots of locals walking past with their doggies, sipping wine, near full moon out, just perfect! The inside featured a 2 man band, playing low key Jazz, etc, with lots of big Tv's with the Yankee game on. I had trouble deciding, but went with the outdoor seating. Ray come by to see us, a very friendly local who knows everyone. Not sure why this place only has 3.5 stars, it deserves way more if you had the experience we had last evening!

Good food without the pretentious atmosphere of most restaurants in Spring Lake. Portions are perfect and the food is delicious.

My first time here I ordered the crab burger with sweet potato fries and mozzarella sticks with and iced tea The service was great Food was delicious The sweet potato fries were on point The marinara for the mozzarella sticks was flavorful My only critique would be the bun they served the crab burger on was a reg old cheap bun, and couldn't withstand the heartiness of the crab cake patty and fell apart easily. Other than that everything was great!

Cool atmosphere, laid back and no pressure. Got the steak salad and had to work for my meal. Nothing was cut so I had to cut my steak, cheese, cucumbers and onions all while served in a bowl...! The servers who all appeared to be in high school were too busy hanging out to get checks for any of the tables or even check in to see how things were going.

It was the only opened restaurant by the evening when I visited the spring lake. Found it on Yelp and reviews it has wanted me more to try it. Me and my husband were very hungry we got very good service. Very nice sitting area, servants were polite and helpful. We ordered Boneless wings(10$ , beef burger(12$ , chicken plate(22$ . I felt it was not worth. Quite expensive as per the quantity but can understand the location makes it all. Boneless chicken wings 3/5 It was a plate with 5 boneless wings with ranch dressing and some celery sticks. Not very tasty, had much better. Burger 5/5 8oz beef patty with a burger bun, coleslaw and fresh crispy fries. Very tasty, good in presentation. Chicken Plate 2/5 Very oily 2 thin grilled chicken, with steamed beans and a small plate of house salad. Can customize it with pasta, rice or soup. There is a bar where you can bring your own booze and drink. My husband likes the burger very much but my dish was not so good. Overall nice service and good atmosphere.
