New Dewaniam - Southwark

Firstly, almost 1hr 10 mins delivery for a restaurant a short walk from my house, that was the start of bad things to come. Even though we ordered directly through the store, a Deliveroo driver arrived, unsurprisingly with a suspiciously unclean looking backpack, rather than official Deliveroo bag(not unusual for Deliveroo these days tbf . Very small, mean portioned saag paneer with no real taste, dry cheese(that’s got to be difficult to do to get cheese to be dry! . Cold, dry rice, again, slightly mean portion. My “chef’s special” came with chicken in small thin slices, rather than chunks(never seen that before , a bit like the pre-cooked chicken slices in packets from supermarkets. The chicken was dry, and very powdery, not at all chicken that teared away, more like eating the stuff you put in the bottom of birdcages. My wife’s chicken was in chunks, which confused us as to why mine was different chicken-wise, as they both tasted exactly the same, but hers was chicken tikka masala, and mine was a chef’s special(only difference being mine had onion in seemingly . Onion bhaji’s tasted vaguely of plastic, and alongside the Peshwari naan, were both definitely reheated, not fresh, and also very very dry. At least on par with the worst curry we’ve had on every level, if not the worst. Genuinely avoid, please save your money, spend a bit more and go eat in a nice restaurant. Why are curry restaurants so awful these days, still searching for something passable as decent in South London for a takeaway, please let me know if you know of one. So far, not at all good.

Food was fine, delivery took one hour and 40 minutes though, no apology. Considering I live about 400 metres away that’s pretty poor.

Nicest Indian in south London, always went here before lockdown and still order take away whilst it is only doing deliveries. One time my order was slightly delayed due to the restaurant and they very kindly offered to give myself and my partner a completely free meal each because they recognised the address. Wouldn’t order from anywhere else : Thank you Armz and Ali.

Finally returned for Sunday buffet since Lockdown. Was the last restaurant we ate out at before lockdown, so we were so excited to go back. Food is still so amazing. Small selection but every dish was exceptional e.g. Tarka Dall, Bombay potatoes,Tandoori chicken and veg curry etc amongst a few other dishes.Amazing quality, super fresh and piping hot. Great value for a family of four. The staff are so lovely and attentive. Will certainly be going back time and time again and would highly recommend.

Just came in for the first time to this restaurant as we normally order a takeaway from here. The food was 10/10 so full of flavour and so fresh. Service was amazing would definitely recommend
