Bidrage med feedbackBrickworks is well worth the short drive from the GC strip. A high standard of food and presentation that is uncommon on the GC. Friendly service and quality food that you would expect in Inner Sydney or Melbourne. Interesting mix of non food retail as well. If I lived here, I would be a regular customer at Brickworks.
If you're looking to purchase gourmet items, this is the place to go. They offer products that you won't find in your typical store, but be prepared to pay a premium. For example, a dozen oysters cost $22.
The restaurant offers fresh bread and delicious Merlo Coffee. The cakes are a highlight, and the quality of the meat is excellent. The staff is always friendly and helpful. However, parking on weekends can be a challenge. It's recommended to park further down and walk up to the restaurant.
Today, I took my brother for his first visit to this quite diffenent shopping destination situated on Ferry Road Southport. He has been living in Sydney for many years is very well travelled especially in Asia (Hong Kong,Taiwan,Singapore, Japan.....) I was surprised that he really liked it with its different shops and products. Whilst it does not have the standand supermarkets eg. ALDI,Coles etc - it has an excellent delicatessen, fruit shop and fish shop. The cafes are very popular offering great coffee making the Brickworks a favourite meeting place. Not far from the Chemists Warehouse, there is Eyeconic Optometrist. Having had my eyes tested there and bought glasses- I highly recommend them for their professional high standards.
A superb baker- butcher- Deli- vegetable and fruit shop- coffee shop- tea shop- and a reasonable bistro completes picture here. If you want better produce you find it here. More expensive of course but worth it.
