Not entirely vegan but they have a brand new vegan menu. Vegan breakfast was super tasty and I'll be back to try the rest
Nice old fashioned cafe with a friendly atmosphere. Food was nice. They have a vegan menu and we had the vegan breakfast. Beans were a bit bland but I am not a big fan of beans so that was fine
After restoring their separate vegan menu following all the chaos from the pandemic I went back in to sample the fayre. A delightful setting that is adorned with beautiful pictures on the walls, table lamps and a mixture of comfortable fireside chairs and regular dining chairs. This all makes one feel as though you are in a living room enjoying tea. I had the vegan jacket potato (vegan cheese) and added a sausage), my partner has the regular jacket with cheese and beans with the addition of mushrooms. Plus a nice pot of Yorkshire tea, (soy and regular milk). The food was nice and well presented although a couple of points did come fruition which I have not scored against as The Remedy Tea Rooms are doing amazing stuff. Firstly the vegan potato with just the VG cheese looked a bit sparse, which my partner noticed straight away. The lack of beans (most are vegan) and the lack of coleslaw, which came with her's, was a bit of a disappointment. The side salad was more of a salad garnish with some crisps and on a personal opinion only crisps do not belong on a dinner plate. The service was extremely friendly and efficient and care was taken over the order. The setting and surroundings were superb and the prices were very reasonable. My criticisms above are from a 30 years of being a vegan and being in vegan catering so more of pointers, hence not scored against. I recommend any vegan or vegetarian passing to pop in as it is a unique experience in the Southend high street where blandness and sameness are the trends of the town. Visited this tea shop for breakfast with my friend. Very very disappointed. The poached eggs were so tiny they didn't even fit on one piece of toast generously. The caramel latte was extremely expensive. Service was non existent considering they weren't busy. We asked for another pot of tea as the other pot had turned cold. The old pot and tea cup weren't removed at all after giving us a fresh pot. For the size of the breakfast and service it was very expensive. Will not be returning sadly. Certainly not worth the money.
