The Walnut Tree Inn

I was given a voucher for a steam train ride which was unavailable to book. I exchanged it for a voucher for a meal at a Gastro Pub. Boy I am glad that that I did! We drove miles to the Walnut Tree Inn...and was greeted by a very professional lady who took my voucher details. We were shown to our table by a very polite young man. The waitress took our order who was also very polite and professional. I had the chicken wings starter which was delicious. I normally go for a steak but for a change I went for the battered fish and chips. Wow! Talk about taste! I’ve had a million portion of fish and chips but this was the best that I’ve ever had. My partner had the halibut and she was delighted. I had the ice cream and my partner had the cheese board with gluten free biscuits which she she loved. We then sat by the real fire and had another drink listening to the subtle brilliant background music What a fantastic way to spend an afternoon. Apparently they have live bands playing on Saturday evenings so along with brilliant service, wonderful food and live music we cannot wait to return.

We stopped here for one night to visit nearby Silverstone for the Classic meeting. After a nightmare journey there in heavy rain the welcome from the staff was great. We had a room at the back of the hotel which was a good size. Bathroom...had a good size shower while the decor was traditional and the bed was a little on the small size, it was comfortable and had everything we needed for our overnight stay. We ate in the bar and the meals were great, usually pub grub and while the menu was small, what we had was very good. Breakfast the following morning was very good and service again was quick and friendly. Unfortunately we couldn’t have a leisurely breakfast as we had to be at Silverstone early doors. The Walnut Inn is next to a busy railway line but to be honest it didn’t bother us , even though we had the window open during the night. All in all a great location for Silverstone mins away) and for the money just what we needed. Great staff, good room, good food, would use again for future visits.

I had a fantastic experience at this restaurant! Bex, Chrissie, and the team took great care of us from Friday to Sunday. The food was delicious and the bar staff were very friendly. The newly renovated bar is beautiful. I highly recommend this place and can't wait to come back!

Our first visit last night was fantastic. We paid £130 for a three-course dinner and breakfast in the room, which was definitely worth the money. All of the staff were very friendly, and we particularly enjoyed the live music in the afternoon. The band in the evening wasn't really my style, but they were very talented. Overall, it was a great experience and one we plan on repeating soon. The food was absolutely delicious and I couldn't find any faults.

We had dinner here for the first time and it was one of the best Sunday dinners we've had. We will definitely be returning.
