Greenhouse - South Lakeland

We liked it so much in September that we returned during half term break. This time we stayed 2 nights on a deal that had dinner on first night with 2 glasses of prosecco included. Yet again the meal was delicious and we enjoyed our evening. We had a bottle of wine with our meal, so that was all we had to pay for. Excellent food presented and cooked with care and skill, adequate portions not just patterns on plates, open aspect kitchen so diners can see their food being prepared.

Breakfast was exceptional, staff were great and such a lovely relaxing surroundings. The fish and chips were delicious too . Great choice of food on the menu just what was needed.

The restaurant is an absolute rip off. You're better off going into to town, and there are plenty of better restaurants at much lower prices. We had: a £30 steak, which was super below average and quite chewy. On top of that, we asked for medium rare, but got it well done instead. The team handled it really well though, so kudos for the waiters. a £24 chicken dish which was ok. 2x £11 pornstar martinis. The worst part? They were really not good... Seriously, 11 quid for a cocktail? Guys, grow up! And that made a £80 meal. £80 for 2 dishes, and 2 cocktails, all of them either average or very below average.

The service was excellent, the restaurant was starting to get busy but the staff handled it very well. The food was lovely there wasn't much of a wait.
