We stopped at The Hat and Feather pub for a spot of lunch and refreshments as we passed through. We had a quick drink and left! On arrival we were asked to put our quiet dogs on their leads because if other dogs arrived there would be “world war 3”. I totally understand this but there were no other dogs in the beer garden and that’s a bold statement! What really disturbed me though that there were at least 3 dogs in 3 different cars in the pub car park! It is NOT OK TO LEAVE DOGS IN CARS!! The staff were unfriendly and abrupt and the place is cash only..... really, we’re in 2019! I would recommend avoiding this pub, there are plenty of nice ones in the vicinity that are truly dog and people friendly.
Visited this pub over the weekend when part of a civil war weekend. Although fairly local it's not a pub I've been too before, so was nice to see somewhere new. The pub has a welcoming feel about it, with a great outdoor area for those who smoke to relax with a drink. Sunday night was steak night, and although busy and late making a booking there was no problem being fitted in. This has to be obe of the best steak nights I've been too. Food was superb, cooked to perfection, and incredible value. I live about 10 miles away and have recommended the steal night to people I know. The only reason I've not given five stars in this review is the opening times; with a large number of thirsty re-enactors arriving on the Friday it would have been nice if the pub opened before 6.30 pm, but obviously this is the landlords prerogative and his choice. All in all a great pub, excellent food, and a friendly atmosphere.
Great food. Good atmosphere. Got a range of food choices to choose from. Would go back there again. Good service.
We have just moved in to the area and decided to try this pub as it is close to where we live. We've been there a few times now and will continue to visit here. Food is always lovely, we tend to have steak and it is always cooked perfectly. Although food is great, also very cheap for a village pub. The man behind the bar is always very pleasent to us and the woman there is lovely too. Service is always good and food is always quick. Would definitely recommend.
