The Beach Fryer - South Cambridgeshire

After a long day my partner and I decided to try out the Beach Fryer as we didn’t want to cook. We were pleasantly surprised by the portion size, enough to fill us up and then some! The food was delicious, we ordered the nuggets, chips and curry sauce. This may have been the best chip shop curry sauce I’ve ever tasted and the batter on the nuggets was crispy and delicious. Staff are friendly and the shop has a very welcoming atmosphere. We will definitely be returning!

I'm always looking for a good chippy and haven't really been blown away by any in Cambridge when compared to some on the coast. I think that's changed today, with my first visit here. When I walked in there was the lovely aroma of clean, fresh frying, not greasy at all. I had large haddock which was cooked to order and huge, spanking fresh and sweet, precisely cooked so the fish was still beautifully moist. Batter was light and crispy, and just thick enough to protect the fish. Chips were great too, crisp and fluffy. These folks know what they're doing and care about it. Excellent.

After reading the reviews on here, we were excited to enjoy great fish and chips. Sadly, the fish was dry and the chips were not cooked to our liking as they looked very pale, so not attractive. We ended up putting half into the bin.

This fish and chip shop has really improved from a couple of years ago. Ate here on Saturday night and even though towards the end of service the batter on the cod was light and crisp and not greasy, and the chips were evenly cooked, crisp outers and soft and fluffy inside, and again not greasy as they so often are at the end of service. All the food was piping hot. Not the cheapest fish and chips but certainly some of the best. Comparable to that classic taste of fish and chips you get on the Norfolk coast.

Not in Cambridge but worth the journey. Top quality fish and chips. Best meal from Chippie in years. Will definitely be going back. Highly recommended.
