Bidrage med feedbackIt 's been a few years since we visited 77 in Caxton. I always remember it being very good but our experience this week was fantastic. Still the same quirky pub setting but the food was exceptional probably some of the best Thai food I 've ever had. It 's strange how you get out of the habit of going places, and when you return, it 's far better than you remember. We won 't be leaving it so long before returning. I also noticed that they do 'take aways ' which is good to know.
Family members enjoyed their meals, and the staff were helpful, but I was rather disappointed in the vegan choices as the tofu on the the published menu seemed to offer great choices, but turned out to be the frozen rubbery type rather than chilled fresh tofu, and many of the dishes which were potentially adaptable for vegetarians or vegans contained fish sauce. The menu however describes the dishes as vegetable main courses rather than suitable for vegetarians or vegan so I should have guessed fish sauce might be an issue for strict vegetarians I thought the main dish vegetable stir fry that was confirmed as vegan was very small, more side dish size.
Absolutely love this place, great Thai food. Comprehensive menu , somewhat different to the mainstream high street Thai Restaurants. Plenty of room inside in the rather unique ,decoration and seating. Ample car park. Food is very flavoursome and tasty. Nice warm welcome on entering. The prawn crackers and dip are rather delicious and spicy.
Lovely dark blue decor with decanters repurposed as lights, prompt service, AMAZING food, which arrived super fast!! There was also a great eating area outside.
Three of us, friends catching up, decided to dine at No. 77 on my suggestion, based on a positive experience 6 years ago. Despite some issues, we had a pleasant evening overall but left feeling disappointed and unlikely to return. We took a while to order due to arriving separately, but the waiter was attentive and friendly. Unfortunately, there was a long wait for our food, and our main course arrived before our starter. Upon informing our waiter, he apologized and offered to check on the missing starter, but also asked if we wanted to proceed with the mains. We opted to wait for the starter, which had been forgotten. The staff apologized and offered another drink (not complimentary), but one order never arrived, prompting a trip to the bar to request it. The starter was lukewarm, while the mains were tasty, particularly the sticky rice, though my curry was disappointingly not very warm. Opting out of dessert due to time concerns, we found the staff friendly, the restaurant clean with trendy decor, but lacking in atmosphere for a Friday night. Despite the mediocre experience, the company made the evening enjoyable.
