Here's why: I had crab cake (as pictured), and they were definitely a lot of crab and less filler but it was way too greasy. Broccoli on the side was definitely bitter and over cooked to say the least. What saved this place was the waitress they were really awesome. Very patient with our foreign guests who spoke almost zero English, and never stopped smiling. I thought the customer service was really excellent.
Stoney's The Striped Rock offers decent food but mediocre service. More specifically, the service was slow. I waited at the outdoor booth for some time before I was greeted and seated, and this was during a time when the restaurant was somewhat empty. However, I have mixed feelings for the food. For example, my shrimp scampi was overly greasy. In fact, the pasta essentially tasted like butter. On the plus side, though, I did get a decent amount of pasta paired with A LOT of shrimp. I was also pleasantly surprised at how good their potato salad was.
Visited this cute little spot while in Maryland with family. I don't know that I could ever say anything negative about places on Solomon's Island unless the servers were outright rude. Why? Because the place is so stunningly beautiful that it is really hard to be mad about anything while you're there! Fortunately, Stoney's offered great food too! I ordered the Monte Cristo and thought it was absolutely DELICIOUS. It was oozing with cheese (just the way I like it) and was wonderful every bite of the way. The crab cake appetizer was equally impressive. A must-try! The service was good, and the view, oh that view! We sat in the outdoor patio and watched the sun set. Absolutely magical! Overall, a must-try for those of you visiting or fortunate enough to live in this beautiful place! I'll be back!
This is a classic Maryland seafood restaurant. Prices are above average for way above average food. In contradistinction to other reviews, our service was outstanding.....prompt ordering, very courteous and rapid serving of food. Thanks to Amber Mallory our server! Crab cakes are 90% meat, and fresh. Ambience is very nice with water views.
The only reason this place gets two stars is because the food was pretty decent and they have a beautiful location. If you 're a local you 'll get good service! The service and management is where the problem really is. We came here for my birthday on a Saturday. We stopped in earlier in the day for a drink. We decided to sit at the bar for one drink before heading out to explore the area. The bartender who I later gathered was most likely the manager payed no attention to us. We sat probably 5 minutes before two men sat next to us and she immediately asked them what they wanted to drink. After getting half their drinks told us she would be right with us. She got them their drinks and then a few moments came to get ours. We sat and drank with no question of whether we wanted to order food. She only asked if we wanted anything else when my glass was empty for a few minutes. We decided to leave and explore and potentially come back because we saw their special for $12 1.5 lbs of snow crab legs. We came back later that evening and had a different waitress outside who was more attentive but you could tell she was busy, not overly friendly might I add. I work in the restaurant industry so I have standards. My 80 year old grandmother was in town (Ohio) for my birthday and left her credit card. I had attempt to call multiple times on Monday because their websites says they 're open on Monday and so does their phone message when you call. But when I called to speak to a manager about her card was told we aren 't open Monday ...... I tried to explain the situation that my 80 year old grandmother had left her card and she lived in Ohio 9 hours away, was the card there and could I retrieve it. NO! I have the same last name and state drivers license, but she would have to come get it herself (9 hours away). They would not even accept photo copy proof of her ID for me to retrieve it. So no card for us, had to report it stolen in order to get a new card..
