Bidrage med feedbackQuaint charming atmosphere. The bacalhau was exceptional and the small tapas dishes were very tasty. Friendly service experience.
The bald guy (waiter owner? is a miserable man. Like i was doing him a favor for eating at his restaurant. Im Portuguese Canadian and can speak fluently, i've been to many restaurants off the beaten track all of which treated me and my family much better than this guy. We knew this place was geared more towards tourists but was conveniently only a 5-10 minute walk from our airbnb. And even then the brutal truth is that there are other places in the area geared towards tourists with better service and larger portions. The food was great although i thought the plates were smaller than what i would see at a more local establishment. The young lady who greeted us was so lovely, too bad she stayed in the kitchen as the restaurant got more full leaving the bald man to serve all the tables. It was apparent many of the other guests were feeling similarly to us as they too were put off by his demeanor and lengthy wait times to be served or acknowledged after sitting down. Some guests went to the extent of approaching the kitchen window asking for drinks. Honestly i was disappointed in my experience, His demeanor was so disrespectful I asked my wife to leave after appetizers, but they were already making our entrees and she didn't want me to make a scene, so I put up with it knowing this review might warn others of what to expect. BUYER BEWARE!!!
For me, this place is a hidden gem. First of all tge restaurant itself and tge terrace outside are very cozy and informal. Second, the staff is very friendly (English is spoken). Third, the food is delicious. They offer several tascas and a couple of main dishes. We normally stay with the tascas. Are favorites are the lascas (fried potato skins with sauce), the ensalada de polvo, and tge mushrooms with bacon. Fourth, the price is very reasonable. Last but certainly not least is the Fado evening. The first Friday of the month they have live Fado music. The songs vary from sad to melancholic, to marchas, to happy. Adega Vadea is worth visiting for lunch, for dinner, but especially for the Fado evening!
The best restaurant. We were heading to Sintra for the day and found this restaurant online and are so glad we did. It’s the best hidden gem. It’s about 10-15 minutes from Sintra, in the small village of Colares. Unlike Sintra, there aren’t any tourists and it’s truly locals only. We both got the steak and fries and it was the best steak ever. After we got done, the owner came over and chatted with us about the area and the restaurant. She’s lovely and very proud of the restaurant. We asked her to pick out a dessert for us and she brought us cookie cake and it was SO good. When we were having lunch, a delivery came with fresh produce, so you know the food is fresh. The restaurant was authentic Portuguese food and worth the trip. If you’re going to Sintra, I highly recommend coming here on your way! If I was a local, I’d eat here every meal. The best food and the best people. Truly felt like they welcomed me into their home. Note, it is cash only, so make sure to have cash!
Best meal in Portugal so far, everything was good and the service was awesome and staff was very friendly. A place to go, not very far from sintra.
