Bidrage med feedbackI wanted a break from the traditional food and decided to walk down the street for a good burger. Their websites says they open at 5 however they didn't open until 5:15. The server came out and handed us menus to look over for happy hour. He took our drink order and took about 15 minutes to return with them although we were the only people there. He then took our food order and we began to wait. 15 minutes later, we asked the status of the food and he said the kitchen wasn't ready yet. 45 minutes after opening the kitchen wasn't ready... After waiting over an hour, our food arrived COLD. We were seated outside on the sidewalk where there are multiple no smoking signs. 2 different groups of people came and sat down and immediately started smoking and the No smoking was not enforced. Although the food was cold, it was tasty. I didn't eat the fries because they actually looked and tasted like they were from the night before. Not the experience I was looking for.
After a week of business dinners and lunches, eating Thai, Chinese, Singaporean, Malaysian and Indian fare, on my last night I just wanted to eat alone, sit at a bar and have a burger and a beer. This place hits on all those cylinders. kind of a hipster vibe, but not pretentious like the San Francisco hipsters I'm used to : the burgers are great, the beer selection was not extensive but entirely serviceable, and the waitstaff was friendly, but not trying to become bffs with you. I will be back in Singapore a lot and and already looking forward to sneaking away to have a burger here.
Hidden in one of the streets that runs along the back of Raffles Hotel are some really cool hole in the wall bars, in particular this one. Okay, I was looking for another bar but unfortunately that was closed, however this one was just down the road so I decided to check it out. I must say that I am really glad I did because this was one pretty cool bar. In fact it reminded me of some of the cool hole in the wall bars that you have in Melbourne. The staff are absolutely lovely, and the drinks are also quite reasonably priced as well. However I really liked the ambience of this place, while not grungy, still very laid back and relax. My recommend forget Raffles and come around the corner to this place because the drinks are much cheaper, the atnosphere much more laid back, and the staff super nice.
Dropped in here in a Saturday evening for a bite to eat and a drink. The burger was amazing and there's a great selection of drinks too, prices weren't too bad and the staff were really friendly. Music was on point and the atmosphere was generally pretty great. Strong recommend!
This place is right across from Raffles Hotel. Lots of local young professionals go here for a drink after work. The chalkboard is full of specials and happy hour details, and they play American 80's rock like Nirvana. We go for the beer and the burgers. The burgers range from $12-$16 and come with fries or onion rings. You can upsize to parmesan truffle fries for $2, which is what I always do. There are different variations of burgers, such as -a Mexican burger with chili -the breakfast burger with chorizo and egg -Swiss cheese mushroom burger (a more conservative choice The appetizers like the chicken wings also seem very popular. We like it for the casual vibe, the fact that prices are net (no here! , and the happy hours don't end too early. Price is always reasonable when we pay up. Free water for the non-drinkers a plus.
