Salve - Siilinjaervi

We dined for lunch and had been recommended to order the fried herring. They were delicious! We also had a beautiful pice of white fish in a white sauce. The service was also excellent. Highly recommended.

There has been a recent renovation and the overall appearance is now fresher although the restaurant is a legendary sailor restaurant. We had a post-theater dinner and booked a table for 11 people. It was a little bit tight fit for tables meant for 10 people. The biggest difference from the past is the size of portions. They have been enormous before. They are smaller now. So it was possible to order also a dessert.

Taking guests to see and taste finnish athmosphere.It started out fine, friendly service and a lot to choose from. Many typical finnish dishes.All three of us chose differently and all liked it.Pekka's vegetarian steaks were selfmade and tasty.Fish with carrotsauce tasted excellent and meatballs were tasty as well. After bringing the dishes the waiter seemed to forget us.It took a long time to get the menu for desserts and way too long before he came to ask if we wanted any.We got tured of waiting and then had to wait for the bill.No tips today, sori. Usually not so slow service, maybe he had a long day. Lets see what happens next time.

Having a meal at Salve feels like eating a home cooked meal in somebody’s house. Despite the size of the restaurant, the place feels cosy, the feeling further enhanced by the super lovely waiting staff. And the food is definitely comfort food at its best, including a fantastic salmon soup and fried herrings with absolutely perfect mashed potatoes. Hearty meals that come very heartily recommended.

Decent food, not stellar. decent service, almost stellar good drinks and as a restaurant not too much stuffed with customers.
