Somewhat disappointed. Often wanted to visit when passing but living in Derby, decided to call in for lunch on route to Shrewsbury Town v Derby County match day. Made a point of coming into the town centre to park up and visit. After ordering drinks we asked about food only to be told No food today , no explanation. Not put off we decided to call in after the game and walked back into the town only to be told at 6.50 we can 't serve you as we are serving no more drinks!! at 6.50 on a Saturday evening?? No explanation. Shame when you travel 120 mile round trip planning to support local business and might have as well gone to a Wetherspoons! Otherwise it seemed a very ambient pub where we would have liked to have enjoyed spending time in
Lovely building. However pub was cold and empty. Food was awful. It’s microwave fayre which we expected but it really was terrible.
A really good traditional tavern full of good old fashioned pub atmosphere and history. This is also the pub where a wall painting of the last supper from the 1500s was discovered. Definitely worth a visit for a relaxing rest and drink.
Ok pub, looks lovely from outside, not so nice inside,
