Gonpachi Shibuya - 渋谷

Huge place. Good for groups, very popular. Loud foreigners

It was a nice restaurant with a local trendy vibe. This feels like a good place to bring your foreign friends who want to try a “safe” Japanese style restaurant. We went there for lunch and the plates a priced accordingly to the location. If possible you should ask for a semi-private table to get the nice view. The food was good and place was nice and clean. The restrooms were clean as well. It is defined a place we would go back with friends.

A restaurant part of the Global-Dining Inc., very popular among foreigners in Japan. The open kitchen design has cleverly showed off the various Japanese cuisines' cooking techniques. Visited during late dinner hours. Cozy warm atmosphere. Wide selection of good foods and drinks. Staff services is not as efficient (slow and inattentive). [After ordered second bottle of wine, need to remind the staff 4 times before it is delivered… Standard foods and drinks menus are bilingual. However, it is recommended to ask for English menu, which will include individual picture of every food item. Easier to use and set the correct expectations. Foods were really delicious. Highly recommended.

When I called in advance to reserve a private room, they mentioned there was a rule of at least 20,000 yen per room. I myself female was going with my girlfriend for lunch so was indecisive… but then the staff recommended me a tatami room which is free of charge. It’s not exactly a private room, but private enough and comfortable. I had duck soba with a glass of oolong high. It was delicious and the customer service was excellent. Plus, the bathroom was large and clean. Highly recommended.

Always a pleasure to go to Gonpachi Shibuya branch. Make sure to book ahead because it gets packed really fast from Thursday to Sunday night. Great private rooms available for groups. Main floor is a bit noisy and the music they blast feels a bit like a club sometimes. There's a vegan menu available and they can also do vegan mentsuyu for the soba menu. Great cocktails drink selection.
