Bavarian Inn, Resort And Brewing Company

In late August my husband and I visited Shepherdstown, WV for the first time. One afternoon we went to the Brewing Company bar for appetizers and a few beers. What a beautiful hotel and dining location. We met Sam, a local bartender and he was most helpful in acquainting us with the Bavarian brews that we thoroughly enjoyed. Sam also was a wonderful ambassador for the town and the Shepherdstown area as well. He gave us useful information for our return visit. We can't wait and we highly recommend the atmosphere and libations at the Bavarian Inn Brewing Company.

My wife and I were camping nearby and this was a pretty quick jaunt from the camper. We ate a late lunch and it was fantastic. The crabcakes and crab dip were exceptional. In-house beer selection was nice and the beer itself was terrific. Service was top-notch! Beautiful property!

I had visited Antietam battlefield and was driving home when I saw the sign for the Inn and Restaurant. I was thrilled at the potential of German food so thought I'd check it out. I ordered the special which was a tasty stroganoff. Then an apple strudel for dessert. Both were very tasty and would have earned a 5 star rating. Except for a few other issues in Service and upkeep. Upon entering I was asked if I wanted more formal or casual dining? I stated formal and was seated in the dining room with white table cloths and proper place settings at a table near the large windows. The hostess didn't notice the ant crawling over the bread plate. I realized he window had a bit of condensation and saw other ants. So I switched to the other side of the table. With a whole wall of windows why sit me at the cloudy window? The food arrived quickly and the server vanished just as quickly. Getting additional butter or my beverage refilled was an after thought. A manager checked on me as I finished my entree. I mentioned the ants and got the obligatory apology/acknowledgement. He sent the server back with butter and a beverage refill. I do eat in formal dining establishments from time to time and look forward to the opportunity. This did not hit the mark in either service or upkeep. I had thought I would take my father there for a holiday meal. I'm not certain of that at this point.

Wonderful dining experience. Staff was very attentive to our veterans who gathered for a reunion. Beautiful scenery. Food drinks: Excellent food. Old fashion cocktail was one of the best I have had in a while.

Had to wait over an hour for food to arrive. Sauerbratin meat was dry. Kraut was off.
