Sassafras - Shelton

I decided to stay in Shelton, CT when I had some business in Stratford, CT. I was looking for a suitable breakfast place on my return tip to be filled with some good food and coffee. It turned out that Sassafras was quite right on my way home. It is definitely a quiet, inconceivable place hidden behind a petrol station and in another strangely constituted shopping complex. I was greeted as soon as I came in and offered an open table at the place. It was about 15% full when I arrived at 9:30. The server that was out at the time of my arrival came to my table shortly later and took my order. I just ordered something simple... 2 eggs over medium, bacon, domestic frits and rye toast. Before my food arrived, I tried a coffee that was pretty good and also in a beautiful size cup. The food arrived quickly and cooked for my pleasure. The potatoes were particularly good as this is the taste and texture of potatoes I like. They were not crispy, dried from the slug of starch. Golf club around! I enjoyed another cup of coffee and was on my way. I'll try to make it back here if I'm ever in the area.

What a wonderful little jewel of a restaurant! The service is so fast and friendly. The prices are reasonable and the food is always delicious! But the bread pudding is for so much to die, so I went in and bought seconds! I love Sassafras!

Excellent eatery. A go to spot for me and my family. Food is great (I recommend the Cuban sandwich for lunch and Texas Melt for breakfast). The staff and family that owns this local staple are excellent and treat you like family. Cannot recommend more.
