The Red Lion At Science Hill

I started coming there when they very first opened and went there off and on until they finally closed. What a shame! I will really miss that place. Sydney Adams

Omg! The nicest place for serious date night! The food is Devine and setting is beautiful. Service was great! Can't wait to return!

Delicious food and drink, and utterly lovely staff! And depressingly, another newly discovered fave is closing....it's fine, I'm not crying, it's just my tummy is sad and it's making my eyes leak... Our visit here was delightful. We were staying in Shelbyville for a long weekend and were looking for things to do and places to eat or drink without having to come all the way back to Louisville. That was when I remembered that Red Lion was in downtown Shelbyville! We started by dropping in late in the evening for a cocktail. We sat at the bar and enjoyed a few very well-crafted drinks and had a nice time sitting in the foyer/hallway area, enjoying the art on display and chatting with the staff. We made the decision then to return the next day for lunch! A very good decision, let me tell you! We made reservations, but they weren't needed for the start of lunch time. But it never hurts. My guy and I share the pimento cheese fritters which were so good...I just wanted there to be MORE. I also settled on the wagyu sloppy joe for my meal because the additional toppings intrigued me and I liked the idea of mixing high and low ingredients and presentation styles. It was super tasty, and def more of a fork and spoon dish than a sandwich. It was delicious! My guy got beef stroganoff, I believe, and he devoured his meal. I do know the owners, but independent of that, every single other thing about our visits were so great. The food and drink, the friendly and outgoing staff, the atmosphere...all fantastic! I am terribly sad that I didn't get myself here sooner, that we haven't had a chance to return, and that now they are closing. Utterly devastated. But I am glad that I got to give it a try at least once!

Our favorite place ever! The food is delicious and the staff are so welcoming. It feels like home! The best place for gluten free delights, craft cocktails and unique sauces. I highly recommend the Brussels sprouts and baby back ribs.
