This was the best restaurant we dined at during our 2-week tour in Quebec. It appeared to be a favorite among locals, which is always a good sign. The service was friendly and efficient, yet not overbearing, and the food was outstanding. The blue cheese crème brûlée starter was delicious; the steak was cooked perfectly, and the cheesecake was exquisite. The food and wine were much better than what we experienced at tourist restaurants in Quebec City and Montreal, and at a very affordable price! We absolutely loved it!
The Casse-croute is a small restaurant or bar where you can quickly grab a meal. Restaurant Boreal, on the other hand, offers high-quality food, generous portions, and reasonable prices in a cozy traditional setting. The atmosphere is fantastic, filled with locals from Quebec rather than tourists, likely due to its location in the less touristy town of Grand-Mère. The restaurant was bustling with patrons, eager to interact with us as we were seen as a unique find for this hidden gem. The menu offers imaginative haute cuisine, such as a starter of crème brulée with blue cheese, and beautifully prepared meats and desserts like the traditional Quebecois sugar pie. The service was provided by a shy yet warm lady, who gave off a genuine and spontaneous smile. The prices were very reasonable for the high quality of the meal, making it a great value. The restaurant is located approximately 3km from the Grand-Mère exit off the highway, towards Parc de la Mauricie. Parking is available in front of the restaurant. Don't miss out on this gem when visiting Parc de la Mauricie!
This is a very charming place, very cosy, with great service and good food with original flavours. We took a table d'hôte, and were very surprised by the quality of everything.
This was the best restaurant we visited out of the many during our week tour of Québec province. It seemed to be mainly frequented by locals, which is usually a good recommendation. The service was friendly and efficient without being intrusive, and the food...wasexcellent. The creme brulée with blue cheese starter was delicious; the steak was cooked to perfection and the cheesecake was gorgeous. Great food and wine much better than in the touristy restaurants in Québec City and Montréal and at a very reasonable price! We loved it!
