Bidrage med feedbackI recommend a different restaurant for a special occasion or a steak dinner than Eddie Merlot's. It seemed understaffed with the time it took to get most items. However, our bottle of wine came out quickly and was great. We ordered the largest Waygu Filet and the 16 oz. Prime NY Strip steak. The filet was cooked perfectly, but was tough. The Prime NY Strip was thin and lacked flavor. I have never seen a cut of Prime NY Strip that thin. It reminded me of the choice NY Strip at Texas Roadhouse. The manager had replacement NY Strip made, but by the time it came out my wife had finished her dinner long before. The au gratin potatoes are excellent. The Carrot Cake has changed. The icing is much thinner that it has been for past years. Before yesterday, we have enjoyed great dinners at Eddie Merlot's in Montgomery. Pictured is what the carrot cake looked like in past years. The atmosphere seems to be the same as when they first opened.
Eddie Merlot is one of my favorite restaurants, however, the service we received last night was subpar. The restaurant was hosting two, large group events a conference of physicians and a retirement planning seminar, in addition to their usual restaurant patrons. This stretched their serving and kitchen staff resulting in a disappointing experience. This was especially disappointing as we were celebrating my birthday.
Zach was great! Friendly, funny and a great conversationalist. He made excellent wine recommendations and upsold the dessert! The hostess was a pure delight and very friendly. The manager on duty was engaging and friendly while attempting to finish inventory and wrap up the evening. The salmon was woefully over cooked but the rest of the meal was delicious. We will definitely be back and explore more menu items.
Our waiter was fabulous, very attentive. Unfortunately we both ordered steaks medium and they came out raw. They took them back to refire but it just put a damper on the meal. The steaks were delicious once we got them back. Our salads were great and the calamari was delicious.
We reserved part of the Cabernet room for my wife's 40th birthday last night with 11 guests. The staff was absolutely wonderful and the food was fantastic. Everything about the dinner was top notch. The staff all signed a birthday card for my wife which was a very nice touch. We accidentally left it on the table when we left. My wife was not happy we left it. So I want to make sure the staff knows we appreciate everything and appreciated the card as well. My wife told me when we got home that it was an absolutely perfect evening. So thank you to the staff at Eddie Merlot's!
