The Captains Table - Scarborough

Excellent fish chips, good service from the girls behind the counter. It is a cash payment, that’s no issue , ATM 50 yards away.

The young girl serving was very rude, blunt, no manners or customer service training. She talked over you and even told my little girl that she couldn’t have chip spice on her chips unless we bought a whole tub. We’re in Yorkshire!!!! No where else in Yorkshire doesn’t have chip spice on their counter! She asked the lady behind us “what do you want” instead of asking politely. Chips were average, fish was nothing special, we won’t be returning! Go to Filey instead!

Dark haired girl taking orders was extremely rude, not just to me but also to my friend, our 8 year olds even noticed how rude she was. Disgusting! At one point she argued and rolled her eyes at the man serving next to her, how unprofessional in front of customers and what an awful example to children. Food was lovely, expensive but good. Doubt will return, refuse to be spoken to like that especially from someone half my age!

Similar experience to other reviews, in that the staff are more interested in their phones than serving customers and politeness seems alien to them! Very average food, the fish patty seemed to have lost its fish and was very greasy, plus the chips were very dry. Have stopped here a few times before and the quality has been good, however won’t bother again.

Good Fish and Chips. Staff not so good, as per a lot of other reviews. In buying for six people but felt a nuisance. A local woman was in who was getting plenty of attention from the staff. Not sure but think I was overcharged, quite expensive as it was.
