Bidrage med feedbackGood sushi, absent service.<br/ <br/ Ambiance of this place is pretty weird. Booths are framed in by unfinished wood covered in varying amounts of pencil graffiti (not the artistically interesting kind, the bathroom stall kind . Curtains are hung over the booth but don 't really cover the booth and the wall in between the booths is not a wall but a frame, so your back is open to another table which makes you wonder why they bothered with the curtains since all they do is obscure your server 's vision of your needs (empty water, empty plates, etc. <br/ <br/ The actual sushi is pretty good. I didn 't care much for the sauces/mayos on the rolls we ordered that had sauces, but all of the simple rolls were good. In particular I wished we had ordered more spicy salmon rolls because yum, but that 's a gameplan for next time I guess. Ingredients seem high quality and the construction of the (smaller rolls is well done. I was surprised by the quality of food because the environment of the restaurant had given me some doubts.<br/ <br/ The service is kind of brutal. The menu has no description of any of the items (and there are a lot so you 're left to guess, and if you just want to know everything up front before you make a decision, you 'd be interrogating your server for a half hour. I 'm not a sushi expert but if you 're going to name something a 'Kawaii Roll ' please explain what it is. For the record I think it 's a dessert roll using a banana as a base filling, but that might have been the 'Golden Roll ' instead... Nothing was explained to us upon ordering or receiving the food, so we decided to have fun with it and order random rolls that had ambiguous names just to force ourselves into trying new stuff. For the record, the banana roll was really good, I wasn 't aware I 'd enjoy 'dessert ' sushi but you should give it a chance if you find yourself at an AYCE like Sushi Date. I think we went 60 minutes or so without water refills, so be prepared to track a server down.<br/ <br/ Price was a little high, all things considered. It 's $25/person for the dinner AYCE and while the sushi is really quite good, the service lets it down. I think I 'd be more compelled on a night where I was hungrier, but I find that my girlfriend and I are full well before $50 of sushi spent at a different place like Sushiro. I 'd only start seeing the value if we were both championship eaters.
Ordered via skipthedishes, so I 'm only commenting on the food/presentation:<br/ I 'm originally from the west coast so I 'd say the quality of sushi here meets the standard, at least from what I tried<br/ <br/ Salmon Sashimi: (4.5/5)<br/ super fresh, thick, and a really nice texture that reminds you why you love salmon sashimi. Decently sized too- definitely a good cut of fish. Would definitely order again.<br/ <br/ Tako (octopus) Sashimi: (4.5/5)<br/ nice and chewy in texture with just enough 'bounce ' and I appreciate that the thickness was not compromised. I 've found that (perhaps due to the rising cost of octopus, many japanese places have resorted to cutting their pieces... paper thin. A bit smaller than the salmon (around 3/4ths the size) but somewhat expected. would definitely order again.<br/ <br/ Ika (squid) Teppanyaki: (4/5)<br/ The sauce was super good- a good balance of sweet and salty with just enough umamé. A generous portion of squid, with a good amount of char from the grilling. The legs had a bit too much and the tips were slightly burnt but that didn 't bother me too much. I like the addition of cooked lettuce at the bottom- its a nice break from the intense flavour but also soaks up some of the sauce. Would order again. <br/ <br/ Overall I 'm surprised with the quality of food- I expected much worse from some of the negative reviews on here but I guess that 's why you sometimes just gotta take the plunge and try out new places!
Service better than expected. food pretty good. from vancouver one of the better sushi spots in saskatoon. decor lighting nice. will go back.
Great atmosphere. Amazing sushi. Fresh and tasty. The food was slightly overpriced but nevrtheless, I will definitely go there again. The new owner has completely transformed the restaurant.
Went for AYCE. Was happy with everything I ordered. The sushi, fried rice, soup and skewers were all great. Would have rated higher, but service was a little slow on a water, tea refills, and checking on us. (The sushi and food did come out quickly though). Also, I'm not sure if they are in the middle of redecorating, but the decor needs some work, looks a little underdone. But over all, the food was the best part of the restaurant.
