Bidrage med feedbackMost high profile art exhibitions in the country are displayed here. There is no permanent collection, therefore your experience will vary depending on when you visit. They host many activities and guided tours I recommend following their socials for updates. They have discounts for students and teachers, but you must provide a valid student ID. I dont know if they accept international student IDs. The building is not fully wheelchair accesible, although there are elevators for each floor. I do not think they have any special resources for blind or deaf people, but that may vary depending on the current exhibition and who is organizing it. It would do well to contact the museum for more information. I personally really like the architecture and design of the museum, both inside and out. It reflects the brutalist style popular with a lot of government buildings, especially in the 60s and 70s, but it may not be to everyone's taste. Their bathrooms are clean enough, and they do have wheelchair accesible stalls. You cannot go inside with anything larger than a small purse you must leave it at the front desk.
This four-level building was specially prepared for the exhibition of works of art and the conservation of modern and contemporary Dominican art. It is the main stage for the most important visual arts in the country with more than a century of sculptures, paintings and photographs.
The building is great. Not the exhibition tho maybe just my fault for not understanding art, idk.
I’m so disappointed! 3 floors filled with only repetitive works of 3 artists. It was very different from the variety they used to have in the past. I want my 100 pesos back!
A very impressive, if somewhat brutalist concrete structure that nevertheless provides a huge and practical exhibition area to display art of any type. I was there for an exposition of decidedly modern paintings, not at all to my taste and failing miserably my personal test, which is that you need be able to tell which way up the painting should be hung without having to resort to the artists signature! Anyway, returning to the venue, it is well worth a visit with ample parking on site.
