Bidrage med feedbackSunny day, lunch outdoors… many tables available picnic style just order at the cashier desk, pay and wait until they call your number, pick up the tray with the food served on disposable plates and cups but not the cutlery . We had some ribbon pasta tagliolini with meat sauce 8,50 and one with summer truffles 11,00 , they were good, delicious, small portioned. Also we had a roasted cockerel with potatoes 14,00 which took some time but was worth the wait, was really tasty, simple good flavours... From the road by the restaurant there is an old chestnut tree called Dante’s tree because probably Dante the Medieval poet visited the area the attraction below, Ponte di Veja in a separate review . That tree was already there and maybe ? he might took some rest under its shadow. If not because of the natural bridge, I wouldn’t have thought of stopping there.
A very large restaurant with lots of tables outside, with interesting recipes, local dishes with some Mitteleuropean flavour. Very simply prepared, quite dull. Polenta (corn meal) is featured prominently in the menu, proudly described as home-made and tastes just acceptable, quite like industrial versions you find in supermarkets. I liked sopressata (a kind of salami) and ravioli stuffed with Monte Veronese cheese. The environment is very pleasant and familiar, obviously a popular location for short trips from neighbouring towns: many bikers and families. This, and surroundings with some centuries-old chestnut trees among the outside tables and the amazing natural bridge Ponte di Veja few minutes away make the place worth the trip. Oh, there 's a real Sherman tank in Italian army markings (supposedly decommissioned in 1953) set up as a monument in the parking.
We were visiting the region and we decided to stop here for lunch, after a nice wine and cheese tour accross Valpolicella. The place was invaded with many noisy guests, and service was really slow. The main courses were average, the meat was quite cold. The parking is big and a few steps from it. I suggest to go somewhere else.
