Piero - SANTA MARGHERITA LIGURE

Warning, scam, especially for tourists... we were waiting for the bus and figured we 'd have a quick Aperol Spritz. There was no menu to use and in the end it cost €20. When asked for the menu the owner showed us that the Aperol Spritz costs between 7-10 euros. The bill didn 't say anything about Aperol Spritz, just €20. Unfortunately we had to go to the bus and we couldn 't discuss anymore... Avoid this place!!

Too bad there isn’t a zero star rating because this place definitely takes the prize. I ordered a caffè shakerato (iced coffee) and was charged €5,00 if you like paying for overpriced food or drinks and dealing with a very rude manager then this is the place to go. A disgrace to the beauty of Santa Margherita.

We were hungry after visiting the five villages of Cinque Terre the whole day. Just opposite the bus stop of our bus to Portofino, we saw Bar Piero. Piero was humble, reminding us that his establishment is a bar not a restaurant. Nevertheless he recommended Spaghetti with Tomatos, Spaghetti Ragu, Lasagna, Risotto and a large bowl of mixed salad for the 4 of us which his wife prepared. The meals went down very well with the house pouring wines and the servings were generous. Total came up to 61.50 Euros with 2 Banana Splits for the 4 of us.

A bar right next to our hotel. Convenient, but, beware! Overcharged twice. A waiter spilled milk all over my wife and the cushion of the seat next to her. He offered a bottle of water to us and never cleaned up the seat cushion or the floor. We watched the milk dry. Avoid like the plague!!!
