Magnificent restaurant in Sanlúcar de Barrameda next to the beach. The gastronomic offer is more than interesting. We opted for the crispy tuna and prawn tacos and then for fresh garlic sirloin pasta with eggs and prawns, everything was frankly exquisite. The attention from Cristina is spectacular. We will definitely return as soon as we can. Service: Dine in Meal type: Lunch Food: 5 Service: 5 Atmosphere: 5 Recommended dishes: Taco Doña Calma, Solomillo de Atún Rojo Al Ajillo Con
We returned here today after a years break to find all our favourite dishes and some new ones. They do the best croquettes here, we had red prawn croquettes and their new red tuna ones, both were packed with flavour. Our must have tuna tacos had thankfully returned to their original complex, multi-layered recipe. Another new dish on the Specials menu that we tried was truffled eggs with mushrooms and potatoes, it came with lardons on top which wasn’t on the menu but luckily I was able to transfer them to my partners portion. I do think that for transparency, the dishes on the Specials menu should be priced because at the moment they don’t put prices on this menu. Full of intense earthy autumn flavours, we loved this dish and mopped up every last drop of sauce with bread. We chose to share an enormous portion of Poyoyo cheesecake for dessert, you haven’t tasted authentic cheesecake until you have tried this, made from dairy from Poyoyo sheep that a lot of cheese is made from locally, this baked cheesecake is creamy with an almost savoury element to it, a world a way from any shop bought cheesecake and may not be to everyone’s taste but we love it. We definitely won’t leave it so long next time to eat here now that normal service has been resumed.
Visited with some friends, one of whom was vegetarian, as it was listed as vegetarian friendly, however there wasn't a single main that was vegetarian unfortunately. They were accomodating though in removing the meat it from a dish on the menu and lowering the price. Food was on the whole very nice, but a little too much sauce on a couple of dishes: the tuna and ham and the prawn, egg and ham dish. Portion sizes were also small and we all left feeling a little hungry
We have eaten here for many years so are very familiar with their dishes and have our favourites that we always order when we come here. We ordered the lovely red prawn croquettes with were delicious as always, crispy outside, soft and full of flavour inside. We ordered a plate of the day which was tomato carpaccio with tuna tartare which was unusual and tasty with the addition of crispy dried onion. Then we extravagantly ordered 2 tuna tortillas each which normally is our favourite dish, this time though it was disappointing, there were key ingredients missing which meant that it was a much more simplified version than normal and really lacked the complex, multi-layered flavours it normally has. I don’t know what caused this; a different chef, lack of ingredients, but whatever it was I really do hope that in the future they return to their original version instead of this inferior version. We then had a tuna noodle dish which was tasty but also seemed slightly different to normal. Traditional baked cheesecake afterwards was creamy, goats cheesy, toasted and almost savoury. Prices have gone up I guess to reflect the increases everywhere of utilities. We enjoyed our meal here but hope the recipe changes are just temporary and not permanent changes.
