I can only say one thing. WOW!! Pintxos with pulpo and salmon were amazing, and service was excelent.
This was one of my favorite places in San Sebastian. I was traveling with my daughters and mother and they didn't eat seafood so the food selection for them at many of the restaurants was limited. When I explained to the host our small dilemma the restaurant's head chef came out and asked me what my family normally eats and he was going to make it for them. The best experienced at a restaurant bar I've ever had. Thanks to Chef Jose. The food is delicious and so is the wine many options.
This is quite a cosy pintxos bar in downtown Donostia, and where we began a bit of 'pintxos bar crawl ' one evening. What we had here was good (croquettes, mushroom, octopus, washed down with beer), so we decided that we would return here to finish the night. Only trouble with that plan was that when we did come back the place was absolutely heaving. You couldn 't get in the door. It was probably the busiest of any the bars we saw that night. Disappointed, we had to call it quits.
We usually have a full meal for lunch and choose pintxos for dinner. Chose their 25€ menu and I had a risotto with delicious cepes mushroom pieces for starters while my husband loved his grilled gambas. My main course was an Iberian pork with oporto sauce and my husband had hefty lamb chops all accompanied by a bottle of tinto included in the menu. The restaurant was at the lower level, more calm and quiet as street level was crowded with people getting their pintxos, most of them eating standing up. This place, on Fermin Calbeton street, THE eating nucleus of San Sebastian is one restaurant to go to! P.S. Fast and friendly service, staff taking time to explain the dishes.
