Asador De Pollos Nogara - San Roque

I always wonder about the star system. So many places are five star for they set out to be. How can a fantastic lorry drivers’ stop/lunch diner have the same number of stars as a three star Michelin restaurant? Not that I have ever been to one for what the foodies call a ‘dining experience’. Also you don’t go to one if you are after a relatively simple good value lunch. I ponder and would love to hear others’ views on this. I have been to this place twice now. Such a relief to know that these places still exist in contemporary Spain in a popular tourist spot. The menu del día is 7 euros and has been delicious both times round. The people who run it are delightful. Very friendly and happy to talk you through what they are offering. Their roast chicken is excellent. Ask for it without the sauce though. Much better! You can also buy a spit roasted chicken to take away. Why is it that these are always simply delicious and ones I do at home second best?! They offer several other set menu options. All looks unpretentious, well-balanced and reasonable. Will definitely go back and try some. This place is frequented by workmen, local families and foreign visitors alike. All are treated with the same friendliness and courtesy. Like it hugely.

On a Friday night there is nothing better than having a few beers with chicken and chips! This place is one of the best around, and the puntillitas (baby squid) are great too... they also do salads to alleviate the guilt. Highly recommend for lunch or dinner, eat in or take away!

La mejor rotisería de pollo y sobre todo constante. No somos fáciles de contentar, sin embargo, hemos comido docenas de pollo de Nogales y todos han sido deliciosos. Gracias por la constancia, es algo que ya no se encuentra. No hay secreto. Un buen producto base, una buena elaboración y un buen servicio. Eso es lo que la gente necesita. ¡Bravo! PD: ¡La salsa está espectacular!

As a regular, I can safely say that this is the best chicken (and sauce in the area. Always friendly, good variety of other options (pulpitas etc.. . And... the chips are brilliant too. All in all I would put these guys #1!!
