First, be sure you find the right restaurant! We navigated to the first Casiano's that came up on Trip Advisor. This smaller chef-driven restaurant is known as the Tasting Restaurant Casiano's. One of the servers there actually got into his truck and led us to this offshoot branch, where we'd had reservations. That misstep was a bit confusing, but it was amazing service! It set the tone for the night: unsure exactly what might happen next, but great surprises and wonderful service awaited! We were welcomed with a delicious complementary cocktail and promptly ordered the five-course tasting menu. It turned out to be more like eight courses, but was portioned as to not be overwhelming amounts of food. We left happily full, not overstuffed. Perfect.Insofar as the menu changes every night, I will just generally say that the food was creative, balanced, beautifully plated, and composed with amazing attention to detail. We were served two fish dishes, a short rib, a steak and organic baby chicken. Each dish had some amount of vegetables integrated, including an amazing mashed potato and a sweet potato purée. The fish and steak were cooked perfectly, and as was the chicken. The mole sauce on the chicken was absolutely the best we've ever tried. It's apparently the chef's family recipe. You might want to consider getting adopted into that family. Also, a word about the bread. Incredible. It is warm and housemade, and came in several different varieties, served with regular or chipotle butter. The bread alone should've been considered a course, and we are big bread snobs. In addition to the five entrée courses, they graciously served an amuse bouche, a pre-dessert treat and an after-dessert bite. You can get wine by the glass, or ask for a course pairing, both of which were successful options for our party. There was a large and efficient wait staff who were all very friendly and open, without being intrusive or overly familiar. They also spoke perfect English, if that is a concern. It's a small restaurant, with maybe 24 seats, and would work equally well for a group of eight or a romantic dinner for two. Noise level was minimal. Note to the timid: One of our party is a picky eater and was concerned about not being able to select her own food. However, with the exception of one of the entrées, she absolutely enjoyed everything. Take a chance and expand your horizons! You're in good hands here. Bravo to the chef for taking chances and succeeding wildly!
We had dinner here twice during our stay in January. Both times the meal was a little different, excellently prepared and very professionally served. This is the best of all the high end tasting-menu restaurants in the area. Don’t miss it. They let you bring your own wine (corkage fee) too.
I like this kind of dining, everything is a surprise, but a great one for us. All courses were great, and the fish course (#5 or #6 of 9) was one of the best seafood preparations I've had the pleasure to taste. I was worried I wouldn't get enough to eat, but don't worry - that WON'T BE A PLOBLEM.
