Bidrage med feedbackCute place with delicious Italian food and great service. The service was great, the pappardelle was to die for, the steak was good too. They have a good selection of vines as well. The service was great, they were very attentive. While pappardelle wasthe star of the night, the complimentary bread could have been better. And the seasoning on the barrow was overpowering.
The food and wine at this restaurant are superb. However, the music playing is terrible and distracting. The amazing house-made pasta is not complemented by music that is reminiscent of shopping at a department store.
My family celebrated my mom's birthday at this restaurant and I believe it was one of the best birthday dinners we have had in terms of service and speed. The staff was very friendly, the food was fresh, and the atmosphere was wonderful. I highly recommend visiting this restaurant for special occasions. The only suggestion I have is to increase the lighting slightly as it was difficult to see our food at times.
Situated in Nob Hill, AltoVino is owned and operated by Chef Nick Kelly and Sommelier Calli Martinez, a talented husband-and-wife team. This cozy neighborhood eatery offers a modern menu featuring fresh pasta, locally sourced meats, produce, and antipasti, in addition to a thoughtfully curated selection of imported Italian wines. I was immediately in carb heaven with the appetizers of prosciutto and fig with gnocco fritto, as well as mushroom mousse with grilled Acme bread. The caramelle pasta with local K&J figs, goat cheese, and balsamic vinegar was a standout, showcasing a delightful texture and chew. The roasted black cod, served tableside in a salt shell with late summer squash and cherry tomatoes, was also a hit. The service was impeccable, and the ambience was perfect for either a relaxing evening with friends or a romantic date. AltoVino manages to embody a cozy neighborhood feel while also being a destination worth traveling across town for.
The restaurant was nice, the food was great. it was almost impossible to hear the people in their party
