Vela - San Diego

Overpriced and subdued. Admittedly, it was their Valentine's Day Prix Fixe menu, so maybe their regular menu is better.

Our family met for brunch at Hudson Nash. We ate on the patio, right next to the bay—beautiful view! Soft, pleasant music played in the background. The staff promptly took our order, refilled our water glasses, and replenished our other drinks. Our meals were lovely as well as delicious. We'd worried about the expensive parking, but the restaurant validated parking for three hours. We even had time to take a nice walk along the waterfront after our wonderful meal. What a great experience! I highly recommend this restaurant.

Yikes. Menu items are tough and $150 for a prime rib served by people in jeans and dirty sneakers? Absolutely not.

I had a fantastic first experience at this restaurant. The service was excellent and Madalynn was exceptional and very knowledgeable about the food and drinks. She even gave us recommendations for places to visit in San Diego! Thank you all for a wonderful evening.
