Bidrage med feedbackMy brother is a big sushi fan and found this spot when planning to come and visit. Whenever I look for sushi recommendations, he's my go to person to ask about recommendations, so was excited to finally be trying this spot out. I went with my family and everyone agreed this was a great place to dine. Definitely recommend if you can get a reservation. FOOD: Everything was delicious! The fish was very fresh and the flavors in some of the non sushi dishes compared to my go to authentic Japanese restaurants I went to growing up in Seattle. Small Udon Noodle Soup: I'm pretty picky when it comes to udon broth and this was amazing! Not too salty, but still packed with flavor and perfectly complimented the noodles. This one is a smaller size which I really liked since I also wanted to get sushi. If you got this and an additional roll or two, it's the perfect amount of food. Black Pepper Scallop Roll: This was probably one of the most unique rolls I've ever had. The flavors were amazing and despite having shrimp tempura in it, the roll still felt pretty light and fresh. We were debating between this and a few other rolls but our server mentioned that this one was his favorite. The roll did not disappoint. Definitely give this one a try! Pickled wasabi: If you are a wasabi fan and haven't tried this, I highly recommend. This is the second restaurant I've been to that has this, and to me it really elevates and adds a new dimension of flavor to sushi. SERVICE: As soon as we got there, we got seated right away. Our server did a great job of giving recommendations and made sure to check in to see if we needed anything. My parents made the reservations, but I have heard that it can be hard to get a spot here unless you've placed a reservation, so would recommend doing this in advanced before coming if you are visiting and want to come here. AMBIANCE: Tucked in the corner of a small plaza, I would not have known about this restaurant. Parking was pretty easy to find as there's parking in both the front and back. Although not a huge restaurant, there is still quite a bit of seating, so you could definitely come if even if you had a bigger group of people. The ambiance/decor reminded me of other authentic sushi places I've been to and there's a chef's counter for seating as well.
This is one of the best sushi places in San Diego. The sushi and sashimi is fresh, flavorful and a variety of options. The staff is extremely friendly and helpful. They are extremely busy so definitely need to get reservations here. Highly recommend!
This is one of those IYKYK places. I joked with someone that I was taking them to 7-11 for dinner, I think they bought it too. A couple doors down you're transported into a omakase land. While we didn't do the omakase we hit that place hard. Service is not bad, I mean, to be fair, I could have ordered one set at a time but I hate interrupting my dinner to do so. So in this situation they just rapid fire everything at you. Still one of the four places I will ever go for raw fish in San Diego. Great sake selection too.
I and my friend went here to eat dinner, she has cerebral palsy and she is in the wheelchair, the service was very accommodating and helped us out of alot.
For the longest time I always wanted to visit sushi ota and finally this day arrived. I have heard so many people from sushi ota who are in one.
