Bidrage med feedbackGreat food! We got the bene and the avo toast. The holland aisle was perfect. The potatoes were addicting. The avo toast was bland but passable. Don’t sleep on the seasonal kombucha. Today was lavender and it was perfect.
This was one of my fav restaurants in San Diego. They actually had egg substitute (I think it was Just egg). Good portions, great taste, so happy. I was under a red tent so the pictures look a little red.
I have had Breakfast Republic a few times at other locations, and I was excited to see it open up in Hillcrest. Like other locations, the vegan menu is pretty extensive for a chain, including vegan meat and eggs. My boyfriend and I decided to try the breakfast burrito and the omelet. The omelet was tasty, but the burrito was delicious. The eggs were perfectly cooked, and all the toppings together worked well. For a side note, I removed the vegan meat and bacon, but that’s a personal preference. The rice and beans were very mediocre, the beans weren’t cooked all the way, and the rice was pretty “meh,” but it didn’t ruin the meal for me. The burrito alone was filling enough; next time, I will opt for no sides. We ordered for pick up, and the location was tiny but clean. There was lots of outdoor seating as well. The staff was friendly, and the kitchen followed the special request I made for my burrito. The only possible major downside is it appears they gave my boyfriend nonvegan butter even with an all-vegan order. My boyfriend isn’t vegan, so it’s not a big deal, but I would be curious to ask next time if they have vegan butter. If they do, then no problem; otherwise, I would avoid butter unless you clarify. Overall, there is other vegan breakfast in the area, but this is a solid choice. Update 5/3/22: butter brought to the table is not vegan, even when ordering the vegan menu. Ask to clarify if there is vegan butter. Updated from previous review on 2022-05-13
I had a couple of breakfast republics in other places, and I was curious that it opened in Hillcrest. Like other sites, the vegan menu is quite extensive for a chain, including vegan meat and eggs. For a secondary note, I removed the vegan meat and bacon, but this is a personal preference. The rice and the beans were very moderate, the beans were not cooked all the way, and the rice was quite “meh”, but it did not ruin the meal for me. The Burrito alone filled enough; next time I won't choose any pages. We ordered for pickup, and the location was tiny, but clean. There were also many outdoor seating. The only possible great disadvantage is that it gives my friend Nonvegan butter even with an all-vegan order. Amazing French toast and a nice place for breakfast, but sometimes it's not very clean and the service can be bad.
