Bidrage med feedbackI’ve had just about all the meats, except for the beef ribs. Pork is awesome brisket, chicken, turkey sausage I’m not really too fond of the sides. I kind of wish it was more soul food like greens that type of thing. And I did not care for the potato salad too mushy and odd tasting. You can tell it’s pure love being put on the grill they may not do greens because people always have an opinion about the greens. My mom did it this way my grandmother did that way all I know the southern way with barbecue potato salad and greens
Great service and atmosphere but the brisket let me down. I ordered a 1/4 pound of marbled brisket but it was a slightly tough to eat. It wasn't melt in your mouth like good brisket should be. It was not horrible but it could have been better. I would probably give them a second chance. Pinto beans were more mush than actual pinto beans but tasted pretty good. Cream Corn was ok but edible. Price was really reasonable.
They were out of pulled pork and wanted to charge extra for brisket. I opted for a combo of brisket and chicken. Both were very peppery and dry. Green beans were tasty and the peach cobbler was a nice finish. The servers were nice although I felt a bit rushed. Table and booth seating very relaxed atmosphere but kind of loud.
I was done with an appointment in the area right before 11 AM so I decided to pick up food at The Barbeque Station, located at 410 and Harry Wurzbach. It has been there forever and the character of the building shows it. You can smell the smoke of all these years permeate the walls. Not a fancy glass and stainless-steel kind of place. There was already a line at 11 AM and by the time I placed my order there were nearly 20 people queued up.I ordered a two-meat plate with lean brisket and turkey. I should add that the menu has different prices for the combo plate, depending on the two meats you choose. I like that. My combo plate came with two sides for $12.99 plus tax and tip. One of the more affordable places in the city. My two sides were potato salad and jalapeño Mac and Cheese. Portion sizes rival other places charging nearly $20 for a plate. You can see in the photo that both the brisket and turkey were moist and not dried out. Both had a nicely seasoned bark. One of the few places where I could honestly skip the sauce because the meat is so flavorful. But the sauce is so good. Runnier than most, served warm, with a nice balance of acidity from the vinegar and sweetness from brown sugar probably. The potato salad had good flavor, but was too much like mashed potatoes to be my favorite. The jalapeño mac and cheese was the star. The macaroni was perfectly cooked and not much like other places. The cheese sauce was creamy and had a little kick from the jalapeños.
