Noren Izakaya - San Andreas

Great range of small plates as well as ramen. We had a few of the skewers (top marks for the chicken breast and short ribs! and the bacon wrapped dates and scallops (also super yum! plus the edamame and shishito peppers. Decent selection of sakes to choose from. The service was great informative, friendly and efficient! It's got some good elements for absorbing the noise of other diners and music that's not loud, which means you you can actually have a conversation while eating without shouting!

Bottom line: Nice neighborhood restaurant, and an unusual find in the usually Italian-focused North Beach area. I would have gone back the next day if they were open. I dined during the soft opening of the restaurant. The menu contains some interesting variations on standard izakaya fare, all well prepared. I always get saba shioyaki when I see it on the menu, and Noren 's was perfectly cooked. The service was friendly, like a good neighborhood joint. However, they were short-handed on service the night I visited, so some dishes did not arrive warm. I can 't wait to go back after the grand opening, when things get up to speed.

One of my favorite restaurants in the city. great service, great food, incredibly friendly and fantastic value.

My husband wanted ramen and we found this place in Opentable. The ramen was fantastic! Fantastic broth! Best I’ve had in a long time. The serving is relatively small, but made up for it in flavor and leave you room to have other stuff. Yakitori was also delicious. And don’t miss the chicken gyoza! Super nice staff, too.
