J. Alexander's - San Antonio

I had a fantastic evening at Alexander's restaurant where the friendly staff welcomed me upon arrival. I had made reservations beforehand and the staff was exceptional, going above and beyond to answer all of our questions, consistently checking on us, and providing excellent recommendations for dinner. The food was delicious and the dessert was more than we could finish. Overall, it was a fantastic place for dinner.

My friend and I visited the restaurant to have a meal and catch up. Our server, Steven, was very friendly and professional. The bar seemed to be busy as our food arrived before our drinks. My friend ordered fish tacos and I ordered the Thai chicken salad. However, the salad was supposed to come with grilled chicken, but it looked and tasted more like slices of white deli meat. I sent it back and ordered shrimp tacos instead, but I was brought fish tacos by mistake. Steven apologized for the error and quickly rectified it. I appreciated this gesture, as I've been to other upscale restaurants where servers blamed the mistake on the customer. Overall, we enjoyed our meal but it was disappointing that the grilled chicken was actually deli meat. I have had similar salads with grilled chicken at other restaurants and it made a noticeable difference.

Key Lime Pie was excellent, and the steak was top-notch.

The food was exquisite as always! Enormous food Portions! The presentation was delightful with a beautiful contrast of appealing colors. The ambience restful and relaxing. The service was ok, but server forgot my change after generous tip. Jay Alexander’s is so consistently excellent that I can easily overlook this one occasion. This has easily become my favorite restaurant in SanAntonio. I’m looking forward to my next dining experience there.
